Infrastructural Development and poverty alleviation in indonesia municipal panel data 2002 2013
2017Co-Authors: Puspita Ayuningtyas Prawesti, Bambang SupriyonoAbstract:Objective – This study attempts to provide comprehensive findings on the impact of several kinds of Infrastructural Developments and government budgets on specific purposes, as well as agricultural and non-agricultural productions, on poverty alleviation in Indonesia between 2002-2013. Methodology/Technique – This study uses macroeconomic data at a municipal level to provide more precise findings when comparing provincial and national level data. The study uses an adaptation of the theory of international Development. Findings – This research shows that electricity and sanitation are more effective at eradicating poverty than water infrastructure. In addition, household access to infrastructure is more effective in combatting poverty than the government budget for infrastructure Development. The study also performs correlation matrices, dividing the data into the western and eastern parts of Indonesia, to provide more robust findings. Agricultural production is more effective in the western part of Indonesia, yet non-agricultural production is more relevant towards poverty reduction in the eastern part of Indonesia. Novelty – This study yields some empirical results and conclusions for economic Development in Indonesia, finding that the key problem lies in the effectiveness of budget arrangement within the framework of fiscal decentralization. Type of Paper: Empirical.

Infrastructural Development and poverty reduction in java indonesia 2002 2012
2017Co-Authors: Puspita Ayuningtyas PrawestiAbstract:Research on the linkage between the Infrastructural Development and poverty reduction has not expanded as the studies on the impact of Infrastructural Development towards economic growth yet Indonesian government takes the Infrastructural construction as one of main policies to eradicate poverty. Therefore, this paper attempts to examine whether the Infrastructural Development is an effective policy to reduce the poverty incidence in Java Island, Indonesia, the homes of the most number of poor people in within the nation compared to other major islands. Panel data regression was performed by using the macroeconomic data in Java Island from 2002-2012 to answer such question. The statistical results proves that household access to basic infrastructures more significantly contribute to poverty alleviation than the government expenditures for specific allocation that in some parts used for the enhancement of infrastructure. Surprisingly, the government expenditure for infrastructure increases the poverty prevalence within the island. The policy recommendation that can be proposed from this research is that the government should formulate more effective mechanism to make the government expenditure an effective tool to alleviate poverty and increase the percentage of budget sharing to sub-national level within the framework of fiscal decentralization.

assessment of public private partnership on Infrastructural Development in nigeria challenges and prospects
2016Co-Authors: Tunji Fadeyi, Abimbola Adegbuyi, Edwin Agwu, Ogbonna IfeanyeAbstract:The era of government singlehandedly providing Infrastructural facilities are long gone. Governments all over the world in this new dispensation cooperate with the private sectors in the provision and management of various Infrastructural facilities in their respective countries. Based on archives of relevant literatures reviewed, this study focuses on Public Private Partnership (PPP) with respect to its effect on Infrastructural Development in Nigeria. It sets out to assess the role of this union of convenience on the growth of various infrastructures in Nigeria, with a view to evaluating in specific terms the challenges of the partnership on Infrastructural Development in Nigeria and to proffer solutions to them. Finding revealed that Public Private Partnerships in Nigeria are faced with challenges ranging from dearth of financing and when such is in place, it carries high interest rate. Another strong challenge hinges on lack of experience in project financing by bank officials and technical expertise. The findings further revealed lack of sound legal and institutional framework as a backing for Public Private Partnership in Nigeria. Despite these challenges, the study finds that the mutual relationship between the Public and Private sector had contributed immensely to the growth of infrastructures in the country as revealed by this reviewed work. The study recommends the establishment of the required regulatory framework for proper implementation of Public Private Partnership projects. Moreover, Nigerian banks through the CBN should be assisted to cope with the financing skills required for PPP.

decision making as performative struggle strategic political executive practices influencing the actualization of an Infrastructural Development
2014Co-Authors: Sander Merkus, Jaap De Heer, M B VeenswijkAbstract:– The purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of performative struggle through the use of an interpretative case story focussed on a strategic decision-making process concerning Infrastructural Development. Performativity is about “world-making” (Carter et al., 2010), based on the assumption that conceptual schemes are not only prescriptions of the world, for the practices flowing from these abstract ideas bring into being the world they are describing. The focus on agency and multiplicity in the academic debate on performativity in organizational settings are combined, resulting in the conceptualization of a multitude of performative agents struggling to make the world. , – The methodological approach of this paper is based on an interpretative analysis of contrasting narratives that are told by political-executives in a strategic decision-making process. These narratives are based on in-depth interviews and participant observation. The interpretative case story, exhibiting the strategic decision-making practices of Aldermen, Delegates and Ministers – focusses on the moments of performative struggle based on strategic narrative practices. , – The interpretative case story will exhibit the way in which a multiplicity of agents reflects on the performative dimension of the decision-making process, anticipates on its performative effects and attempts to manipulate the strategic vision that is actualized into reality. Moreover, the agents are not primarily concerned with the actualization of a specific Infrastructural project; they are more concerned with the consequences of decision making for their more comprehensive strategic visions on reality. , – The notion of performative struggle has not yet been explicitly studied by scholars focussing on performativity. However, the concept can be used as an appropriate lens for studying meaning making within ethnographic studies on organizational processes such as for instance culture change intervention and strategy formation. The concept of performative struggle is especially useful for understanding the political dimension of meaning making when studying an organizational life-world through the use of ethnographic research. , – The originality of this paper lies in the innovative conceptualization of struggle between a multiplicity of reflexive agents in the debate on performative world-making. Moreover, the incorporation of the perspective of performative struggle within organizational ethnographic research is valuable for the Development of organizational ethnographic methodology.
