'Universitas Bangka Belitung', 2021Co-Authors: Apriyadi Rion, Lestari TriAbstract:The control of pepper stem borer Lophobaris piperis Marsh (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) and berry sucker Dasynus piperis China (Hemiptera: Coreidae) is using Insecticide Application and culture technique. The objectives of the research was to asses the effect of weed control techniques and the frequency of Insecticide Application to the abundance and damage intensity caused by L. piperis and D. piperis on pepper plant. The research was conducted in local farmer pepper plantation with combination of weed control technique (weeding, herbicide, and Arachis pintoi) and frequency of Insecticide Application (2 and 4 times a year). The abundance of pepper plant pests has discovered in pepper plantation with weed control using weeding and herbicide Application combined with frequency of Insecticide Application 4 times a year. The highest absolute damage intensity and relative damage intensity were found in pepper plantations with a frequency of Insecticide Applications 2 times a year. The damage intensity tended to decrease in pepper plantation that applied weed control techniques using A. pintoi.Pengendalian penggerek batang lada Lophobaris piperis Marsh (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) dan penghisap buah lada Dasynus piperis China (Hemiptera: Coreidae) dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik aplikasi insektisida dan pengendalian secara kultur teknis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik frekuensi aplikasi insektisida kimia dan teknik pengendalian gulma terhadap kelimpahan dan intensitas kerusakan yang diakibatkan oleh hama Lophobaris piperis Marsh and Dasynus piperis China pada tanaman lada. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kebun petani lokal dengan kriteria kebun yang dipilih berupa kombinasi antara teknik pengendalian gulma dengan metode penyiangan, herbisida dan tanaman penutup Arachis pintoi Krap. & Greg. serta frekuensi aplikasi insektisida sebanyak 2 kali dan 4 kali setahun. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan bahwa kelimpahan hama tertinggi terdapat pada kebun lada yang menerapkan teknik pengendalian gulma menggunakan penyiangan dan aplikasi herbisida yang dikombinasikan dengan aplikasi insektisida sebanyak 4 kali setahun. Intensitas kerusakan mutlak dan intensitas kerusakan relatif tertinggi ditemukan pada kebun lada dengan aplikasi insektisida sebanyak 2 kali setahun. Intensitas kerusakan cenderung menurun pada kebun lada yang menerapkan teknik pengendalian gulma menggunakan tanaman A. pintoi

Sesame webworm (Antigastra catalaunalis) is the major pest, which causes heavy losses in Humera areas, Northern Ethiopia. This study aims to determine optimum sowing time and Insecticide Application frequency for controlling A. catalaunalis. The results showed that the early sowing gave minimum infestation of sesame webworm and better sesame grain yield. The integration of early sowing and weekly spray (T16) resulted in low incidence (8.8%) and higher grain yield (651 kg/ha), where the combination of late sowing and untreated (control) plot (T3) gave higher incidence (100%) and lower grain yield (69.1 kg/ha). The maximum level of leaf, flower and capsule damage was scored on the late sowing and untreated plot, while the lowest was in the early sowing and weekly sprayed plot. Planting sesame early on the onset of rainfall followed with two Application of Insecticide at 2 and 4 weeks after emergence was found economical and optimum management option for controlling A. catalaunalis.

BrockAbstract:The effects of nutrient loading, and of a combination of nutrient loading and Insecticide Application, were studied in indoor microcosms intended to model drainage ditches. Nutrient additions hardly affected breakdown of particulate organic matter in litter bags. Only minor increases in the abundance of detritivores were observed. Dissolved oxygen concentrations, however, increased for a prolonged period. Application of the chlorpyrifos in nutrient-enriched cosms caused an elimination of important detritivore populations, resulting in a decreased decomposition of organic matter.

Effects of Applications of both nutrients and the Insecticide chlorpyrifos caused a larger and more prolonged increase in periphytic algae. After three to four weeks this bloom of periphytic algae was controlled by non-arthropod grazers, which increased in numbers after Insecticide Application. The study indicates that the top-down control of periphyton by grazers is an important regulatory mechanism in macrophyte-dominated aquatic ecosystems. Insecticides, by poisoning arthropod grazers, may indirectly stimulate periphytic algae, as long as resources and non-arthropod grazers permit this.

BrockAbstract:Abstract The effects of chlorpyrifos on a macro-invertebrate community were studied in indoor freshwater ecosystems. A single dose of the Insecticide was applied to achieve nominal concentrations of 5 (low dose) and 35 (high dose) μg/1. Acute primary effects of the treatment consisted of the death of most Arthropoda with only some isopods surviving in the low-dose systems. Effects considered as secondary included a decrease in numbers of Turbellaria and Tubificidae in both low- and high-dose systems, and an increase in the abundance of Gastropoda in the high-dose systems. Principal Component Analysis (P.C.A.) revealed that macro-invertebrate communities in all systems were much alike in the pre-treatment period. Similarity between treatments decreased considerably as a result of Insecticide Application. Similarity between controls decreased from 8 to 10 weeks post Application onwards. High dose replicates remained more or less similar until the end of the experiment (week 26). It is concluded that, in combination with basic statistics, multivariate techniques such as P.C.A. are a useful tool to evaluate effects of pesticides on community responses in freshwater microcosms.
