Measurement of Resilience and the Time Value of Resilience
IEEE Systems Journal, 1Co-Authors: Timothy L. J. FerrisAbstract:In prior work, a measure of resilience for use in systems design and management was presented. The measure has the form of a time integral of the system performance level. This form generates the research question: Is the time value of resilience a meaningful concept, like the time value of money in engineering economics. This article presents four scenarios to explore the relationship between time and the value of resilience of a product or system. The scenarios are: perishable commodity packaging, the value of resilience rapidly diminishes after the contents’ expiry; a consumer durable product for use in an evolving environment and Interface Requirement, where the value of resilience is related to the expiry of platform resilience capability; a national infrastructure asset, where usage increases during the system life; and a factory, where the value of resilience depends on the obsolescence of the product. In the first two and last cases, the value of resilience is high for a finite interval and then low or zero. In the third, the value of resilience increases as the asset ages.

Creating Srs Document with Combination of Scenario_Based Teqniques and web_Based Teqniques

The errors in Requirements gathering and software specification phases lead to project failure and costly mistakes during software development. Likewise a bad user Interface lessens the quality of software. WEBSTEUIR is a support tool to help the developers and users in user Interface Requirement elicitation and specification. The approach used in WEBSTEUIR is to elicit user Interface Requirements from UML interaction diagrams in order to generate SRS which include user Interface Requirements and have to be well understood and well presented to the developers and end-users and also provide easy way to extract main functionalities, features, and user Interface of the software. Description of our approach to software user Interface Requirements specification and an overview of WEBSTEUIR's design concepts are presented in the paper, together with examples of the tool's use, a comparison with related work and pointers to future.

A support tool for elicitation of user Interface Requirements

The errors in Requirements gathering and software specification phases lead to project failure and costly mistakes during software development. The lack of user involvement and the communication gap between the developers and the end-users are the major causes of poor Requirements and user Interface Requirements elicitation. Likewise a bad user Interface lessens the quality of software. The purpose of the research is to find a way to facilitate elicitation and specification of user Interface Requirements from users directly. This research reviewed the current works in this area and proposed an approach and applied it in a support tool (WEBSTUIRE) to help the developers and the users in user Interface Requirement elicitation. The WEBSTEUIR inherits many features of WEBSTORM, a web-based prototype for software specification and modeling by Sagar Talekar, and expands it to elicit user Interface Requirements from UML interaction diagrams. WEBSTEUIR redesigns, re-develops and improves many of WEBSTORM capabilities, and adds new capabilities to capture user Interface Requirements. This research describes the WEBSTEUIR approach to user Interface Requirements elicitation and specification with combining scenario-based approaches and prototyping approaches in a multi-user environment. The resulting SRS document which is provided by the proposed tool, has to be well understood and well presented to the developers and end-users. It also provides an easy way to extract main functionalities, features, and user Interface Requirements of the proposed system. The tool has been compared with several related CASE tools and has been well evaluated and accepted by a group of potential developers. The list of future work is proposed to expand functionality and capability of WEBSTEUIR.

This study is done through semi-structured interview with final year medical student. A participatory design approach was used to collect EMR user Interface Requirement from one of medical school in Malaysia. The scopes of analysis involve identifying the layout usage of user Interface, navigation menu, navigation menu arrangement, user Interface components and screen colour. The input collected from the study will be used to develop EMR user Interface model.
