    Páginas a&b: arquivos e bibliotecas; 2ª série. Nº 10 (2012), 2018
Co-Authors: Ana Belen Rios Hilario, Joao Luis Romeira De Sousa Guerreiro
    Abstract:

Co-Authors: Ana Belen Rios Hilario, Joao Luis Romeira De Sousa Guerreiro
    Abstract:

A comparative analysis between the ISBD (ER) and the consolidated ISBD is performed, focusing exclusively on the description of digital documents. The aim of our study is to identify the similarities and differences between the two standards, in order to provide a summary of the changes made in the new uniformed rules. After an introduction which sets out the methodology to follow, the comparison of the rules is carried out. This review is divided into two parts: the first one establishes the historical evolution of both ISBD, while the second one provides the comparison of both form and content. Finally, the conclusions highlight the most important aspects of the comparison and identifies a number of proposals to facilitate the implementation of the consolidated ISBD regarding the description of electronic documents.

  • ISBD resource and its description in the context of the semantic web
    Cataloging & Classification Quarterly, 2014
    Co-Authors: Carlo Bianchini, Mirna Willer
    Abstract:

This article explores the question “What is an International Standard for Bibliographic Description (ISBD) resource in the context of the Semantic Web, and what is the relationship of its description to the linked data?” This question is discussed against the background of the dichotomy between the description and access using the Semantic Web differentiation of the three logical layers: real-world objects, web of data, and special purpose (bibliographic) data. The representation of bibliographic data as linked data is discussed, distinguishing the description of a resource from the iconic/objective and the informational/subjective viewpoints. In the conclusion, the authors give views on possible directions of future development of the ISBD.

  • from bibliographic models to cataloging rules remarks on frbr icp ISBD and rda and the relationships between them
    Cataloging & Classification Quarterly, 2009
    Co-Authors: Carlo Bianchini, Mauro Guerrini
    Abstract:

This article discusses the changes that are occurring in the world of cataloging. It argues that these changes need to be coordinated. It also discusses the feature of current OPACs, FRBR, the Paris Principles and its proposed replacement (ICP), AACR2 and its proposed replacement (RDA), ISBD, and the relationships between and among these standards. It argues that the syntax of ISBD is an essential component of RDA and all future international and national cataloging codes.

  • la traduzione italiana dell ISBD edizione consolidata
Biblioteche oggi: Mensile di informazione aggiornamento dibattito, 2009
Co-Authors: Carlo Bianchini, Mauro Guerrini, Giuliano Genetasio, Enrica Vadala
    Abstract:

The paper describes the history, the meaning, the structure and the text of the ISBD preliminary consolidated edition and the issues relating to its Italian translation. The online version of the Italian translation of International standard bibliographic description (ISBD), preliminary consolidated edition, was published in August 2009. The translation aims to promote the standard in Italy and is the result of nearly two years of work. The Italian Translation Working Group worked by email and periodic meetings, and met also with ICCU to check the whole translation and to discuss single difficult questions. The process of editing of the ISBD provisional consolidated edition, translation issues, differences among ISBD and Italian cataloguing uses, GMDs and SMDs, Glossary and the relationship between ISBD and REICAT are discussed. Italian translation work was also a valuable opportunity to contribute with ISBD Review Group to the setting up of the final version of the standard. The Italian Translation Working Group steadily submitted comments to the ISBD Review Group, contributing to the ongoing debate among the editors and determining some revisions in the text.

  • management of inappropriate sexual behaviors in dementia ISBD using multidisciplinary teams in the continuum of care
American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, 2015
Co-Authors: Rajesh R Tampi, Deena J Tampi, Kirsten M Wilkins, Louis Trevisan
    Abstract:

Abstract Behavioral disturbances are seen in over 80% of individuals with dementia. Although inappropriate sexual behaviors in dementia (ISBD) are not as common as some of the other behavioral symptoms in dementia, these behaviors can cause immense distress to all those affected by them. Currently, there are no randomized trials evaluating the effectiveness of management strategies for these behaviors, but the available data suggest efficacy for some commonly used treatment modalities. In this symposium, we will discuss the epidemiology, neurobiology and the differential diagnosis for ISBD. We will then provide an overview of the evidence-based assessment and management of these behaviors. We will end by describing the role of multidisciplinary teams in the continuum of care for the optimum management of ISBD.
