  • HICSS - Usability Evaluation of a Learning Management System
2010 43rd Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2010
Co-Authors: Alexander Blecken, Daniel Brüggemann, Wiebke Marx
    Abstract:

In this paper current usability evaluation methods are Systematically examined and assessed. Thereupon, suitable evaluation methods are selected and applied in the evaluation of a Learning Management System. Usability evaluation methods can be distinguished in analytical and empirical procedures with either summative or formative objectives. A case example in the form of a usability evaluation of a Learning Management System is presented. The co-active e-Learning platform koaLA provides teaching and Learning material and integrates Web 2.0-technologies such as wikis, weblogs and forums. A cross-sectional survey revealed that although koaLA offers collaborative features, the majority of users of all user groups does not use them. Recommendations for koaLA are derived based on the qualitative and quantitative data from the survey.

  • ICALT - Proactive e-Learning Management System
Seventh IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT 2007), 2007
    Co-Authors: Denis Zampunieris
    Abstract:

This paper introduces a new kind of e-Learning Management System: proactive LMS. These e-Learning platforms are designed to improve their users' online interactions by providing appropriate actions initiated by the LMS itself.

  • Factors predicting online university students’ use of a mobile Learning Management System (m-LMS)
Educational Technology Research and Development, 2016
Co-Authors: Young Ju Joo, Nari Kim, Nam Hee Kim
    Abstract:

This study analyzed the relationships among factors predicting online university students’ actual usage of a mobile Learning Management System (m-LMS) through a structural model. Data from 222 students in a Korean online university were collected to investigate integrated relationships among their perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, expectation-confirmation, satisfaction, continuance intention and actual usage of m-LMS. Results showed that perceived ease of use predicted perceived usefulness, but expectation-confirmation was not related to perceived usefulness. Perceived usefulness and expectation-confirmation predicted satisfaction. Perceived usefulness and satisfaction predicted continuance intention, but perceived ease of use was not related to continuance intention. Continuance intention predicted actual usage of m-LMS.

  • The impact of social interaction anxiety in the use of Learning Management System: A tentative model
2017 International Conference on Engineering Technology and Technopreneurship (ICE2T), 2017
Co-Authors: Azriaty Mazlan, Jusang Bolong, Siti Rabiah Nasrudin, Azrul Hisyam Abdul Rahman
    Abstract:

Learning Management System is a relatively new phenomenon and until very recently their use in University was limited, now the lecturers and the students have been push to use this System so that they have a better and improvement in Learning situation. The Learning Management System is already changing the organization and delivery of higher education. The pedagogical forces that have driven the higher Learning institutions to adopt and incorporate ICTs in teaching and Learning include greater information access and greater communication. This concept paper is observes the impact of Learning Management System usage among university students. It is also looks at the moderating effect of Learning Management System usage between Offline Social Interaction and Social Interaction Anxiety. This research becomes a concern because a significant relationship social interaction anxiety was found between the level of problematic Internet use and social interaction anxiety, (Cem Cuhadar, 2011). The paper observes the Anxiety/Uncertainty Management (AUM) Theory, developed mainly by William Gudykunst (1995).

  • The role of the Learning Management System usage and impact of the changes to the social interaction anxiety: a tentative model
    2017
    Co-Authors: Azriaty Mazlan, Jusang Bolong
    Abstract:

Learning Management System is a relatively new phenomenon and until very recently their use of university was limited. Now the lecturers and the students have been pushing to use this System so that, they have a better and improved in a Learning situation. The Learning Management System is already changing the organization and delivery of higher education. The pedagogical forces that have driven the higher Learning institutions to adopt and incorporate ICTs in teaching and Learning include greater information access and greater communication. The adoption of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) which has two dimensions where Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) is "the degree to which an individual believes that using a particular System would be free of physical and mental effort and Perceive Usefulness (PU) is defined as "he degree to which an individual believes that using a particular System would enhance his or her job performance. This concept study observes the impact of perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness on the extent of Learning Management System usage among university students. It is also looking at the moderating effect of Learning Management System usage between perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and social interaction Anxiety. This research becomes a concern because a significant relationship social interaction anxiety was found between the level of problematic Internet use and social interaction anxiety. This study also observes the Anxiety/Uncertainty Management (AUM) Theory. In assessing social interaction anxiety among the predictors that can be counted on are perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Therefore, this study will elaborate some of the theory that is used in the previous study and some for the future study purposes.
