  • a rapidly growing electronic publishing trend audiobooks for Leisure and Education
International Conference on Electronic Publishing, 2008
    Co-Authors: Jan Engelen
    Abstract:

This contribution focuses on the relatively new phenomenon of the purely commercial availability of audiobooks, sometimes also called “spoken books”, “talking books” or “narrated books”. Having the text of a book read aloud and recorded has been for a very long time the favourite solution to make books and other texts accessible for persons with a serious reading impairment such as blindness or low vision. Specialised production centres do exist in most countries of the world for producing these talking books. But now a growing number of commercial groups have found out that there is a booming market for these products as people slowly get used to Leisure listening to books instead of reading them. Some companies claim already having over 40.000 titles in spoken format in their catalogue. Major differences and possible synergies between the two worlds are discussed.

  • Information and communications technology, society and Education in the 21st Century
    Waikato Journal of Education, 2017
    Co-Authors: David Mitchell
    Abstract:

Technology is perhaps the most significant of the factors which will drive the future. Mechanisation and automation will change the nature of work. Information and communications technology (ICT) will revolutionise the ways in which we gather, manipulate and communicate information in our work, Leisure and Education. This paper is divided into two sections. The first will summarise some of the main trends in ICT that are taking place and which seem likely to be maintained in the future. The second will outline the likely impact of these trends on societies, in particular their implications for the nature of work and Leisure, human relationships and Education.

  • On Leisure and Education for Leisure
Theory and practice of education, 2006
    Co-Authors: Liu Jin
    Abstract:

Leisure is not a time when a man has nothing to do. Leisure is a man's contemplating state of mind in which a man is released from business, and in which a man is easy, free, looking at inside, serenity, taking one's time. Leisure is also a comparatively free contemplating process in which a man engages, and in the process the man is liberated from the transient pressure from the cultural and physical circumstance. So Education for Leisure is not educating students in their free time as if Education for holiday, not an Education for filling up someone's blankness or enriching someone's amateurism. The objectives of Education for Leisure are for one's freedom from busyness, and students will be cultivated to hold and manage Leisure in Education for Leisure. If Education for Leisure cooperates with Education for vocation, and the whole Education for individual will be established.

  • Description of sport facilities for Leisure and Education in the city of Parintins, Amazonas
    2016
Co-Authors: Marcelo Rocha Radicchi, Jéssica Batista Dos Santos, Dainessa De Souza Carneiro, Manoel Ferreira Reis Júnior, Jaércio Gomes Anselmo
    Abstract:

Interactions between environment and physical activity has gained relevance in public health research, especially in the south and southeast regions, with little expression in the Brazilian northern region. We sought to identify the presence and evaluate the quality of sport facilities for Leisure and Education in neighborhoods located within the city limits of Parintins, state of Amazonas. Observational study and data collection occurred in 2013, through an instrument built, and covered the 20 districts in the urban perimeter of the city. Population census data was matched with collected field data and analyzed using descriptive statistics and georeferencing. Of the 101 sports facilities for Leisure and Education, 36% consisted of improvised sports spaces, while the 38 identified public spaces, only 13 allowed free access of the population. Of the identified facilities, the largest share was constituted of soccer fields, be it private, public or improvised in nature. The quality and conservation of the public sporting facilities in particular was the most worrying, since 21% of these total 38 spaces presented health risk to their users. In the 37 improvised spaces, the presence of trash and tall grass was a constant, 54.1% and 48.6% respectively, which raises concern about the risks to the health of users of this type of space. We observed insufficient sports facilities for Leisure and Education considering the city population, also poor maintenance of public sports facilities for Leisure and Education in the city of Parintins, Amazonas.

  • Smart Mobility Creating Smart Space: 3D Smart Aquarium Bus
2019 IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo Asia-Pacific (ITEC Asia-Pacific), 2019
    Co-Authors: Ju-hyung Han, Yong-soo Shin, Sang-ho Lee
    Abstract:

This study aims to analyze the development of smart mobility creating smart space and expect the process of convergence evolution between smart city and vehicle. Autonomous smart vehicles make people provide time with another activities due to no driving. This study results are listed as follows. First, the functional types of inner space in smart mobility environment were divided to 3 types such as work, Leisure & Education, rest & health. Second, as a result of analysis about 3D Smart Aquarium Bus as smart mobility case, it had provided almost contents/services focused on Leisure and Education for children. The size of smart mobility was big space like bus and a number of people could enjoy good experience through various contents/services at the same time. It also had merits that could visit everywhere regardless of location, time and space. The technology of smart mobility was seriately arranged by 3D screens to maximize 3D effects of contents/services and used with 3D glasses. The development process of smart mobility had evolved like 2012(3D screen + 3D glasses: the contents of ecological environment in ocean) - 2014(3D screen + 3D glasses: the contents of ecological environment in ocean, the contents of safety Education in underwater) $- 2017 \sim2018($ Only 3D screen without 3D glasses: the contents of ecological environment in ocean, the contents of safety Education in underwater, The contents of renewable energy) - 2019(The creation of convergence space between building mass and bus mass for various contents/services). To sum it all up, the technology, space concept and transforming in 3D Smart Aquarium Bus was evolved by various changes of cultural and governance trends. Third, the evolution of case about Leisure and Education in smart mobility creating smart space was begun by contents/services based on 3D technology and changed by social issues and needs continuously. Also, the mobility space required to the further spaces through changes of various contents/services. Forth, the scale of mobility space was changed by various contents/services. Types of changing were divided to “the convergence between mobility and mobility”, “The convergence between mobility and building” and, “Self extension convergence of mobility”. In detail, the convergence between mobility and mobility was space convergence system between walls. The convergence between mobility & building and self-extension convergence of mobility were space convergence system among wall, ceiling and floor. Consequentially, the extension and evolution of smart mobility space would be made by creation of various contents/services and compactification of technologies /Infrastructures. Hereafter, these will make a various convergence system between the moved space(mobility space) and the fixed space(building space) through the evolution of sustain mass convergences, evolve the system of new creation space in smart space continually and thus, construct new creation city of future.
