Journal of Nanjing Normal University, 2011
    Co-Authors: Li Shu-guan
    Abstract:

Some psychologist argue that Chomsky has departed from his original cognitive commitment in his recent work: the exploration of Linguistic rules is abandoned and the principles he has proposed become so Abstract that they are devoid of psychological reality and thus contribute little to the development of Psychology. But if we take a closer look at the rationale behind Chomsky's relentless change of his theory, we will easily find that the fundamentals of his theory are consistent and what have been changed are just the techniques and particular theoretical models. Chomsky's theoretical consistency is determined by the problems he wants to solve and the methods he employs. A good understanding of his strong awareness of research questions and scientific methodology will be of great significance for today's psychological studies on human language and mind.
