  • Designing standard service offerings for reducing IT service Management Cost
2012 IEEE Network Operations and Management Symposium, 2012
    Co-Authors: Sambit Sahu, Rajeev Puri
    Abstract:

A significant portion of a typical Enterprise IT services budget is spent on steady state Management operations known as ”operational expenses”. Recently ”Standard Services Offerings” based approaches are proposed to reduce such Cost where only a few set of versions and configurations are used to build an Enterprise IT services platform. A key challenge in these approaches is the choice of appropriate base set of configurations that can be used as seed configurations. Our paper addresses the above problem by studying several methods towards choosing the right set of application stack with configurations that minimizes the Cost of building the target services environment from this seed set of offerings. We present four different methods and use model driven simulation studies to compare the performance of these approaches. We validate our key findings by analyzing our approaches for a large Enterprise customer IT environment.

  • Agent-Based Forwarding Strategies for Reducing Location Management Cost in Mobile Networks
    Mobile Networks and Applications, 2001
    Co-Authors: Ing-ray Chen, Tsong-min Chen
    Abstract:

An important issue in location Management for dealing with user mobility in wireless networks is to reduce the Cost associated with location updates and searches. The former operation occurs when a mobile user moves to a new location registration area and the network is being informed of the mobile user's current location; the latter operation occurs when there is a call for the mobile user and the network must deliver the call to the mobile user. In this paper, we propose and analyze a class of new agent-based forwarding schemes with the objective to reduce the location Management Cost in mobile wireless networks. We develop analytical models to compare the performance of the proposed schemes with existing location Management schemes to demonstrate their feasibility and also to reveal conditions under which our proposed schemes are superior to existing ones. Our proposed schemes are particularly suitable for mobile networks with switches which can cover a large number of location registration areas.

  • ICPADS - Agent-based forwarding strategies for reducing location Management Cost in mobile networks
    Mobile Networks and Applications, 1998
    Co-Authors: Ing-ray Chen, Tsong-min Chen
    Abstract:

A major issue with location Management in mobile wireless networks is the high Cost associated with location updates and searches. A search occurs when a caller needs to connect to a mobile user whose location is unknown to the caller and the network must locate the callee. An update occurs when a mobile user moves into a new registration area and the network is informed of the location change. We propose and analyze a class of new agent-based forwarding strategies with the objective to reduce the location Management Cost in mobile wireless networks. We develop analytical Markov models to compare the performance of the proposed strategies with existing location Management schemes to demonstrate their feasibility and also to reveal conditions under which the proposed schemes are superior to existing ones.

  • Dynamic VLR Based Location Management Scheme for pes Networks
    2020
Co-Authors: S. Suresh Jothi Kumar, Chiranjeev Kumar
    Abstract:

Location Management plays a central role in guaranteeing the effective operation of Personal Communication Service (PCS). In this paper, a dynamic visitor location register (VLR) based location Management scheme is proposed for PCS networks. In this scheme, the current mobile switching center (MSC) gathers the information about the mobile terminals from the previous MSC of mobile terminal (MT), and performs the location registration. This proposed scheme decreases the traffic over the home location register (HLR) and it also reduces the location Management Cost. An analytical model is developed to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme Keywords-Location Management, location Management Cost, location registration, PCS networks.

  • Modelling and Cost analysis of location Management scheme for PCS networks
International Journal of Information and Communication Technology, 2011
Co-Authors: Sanjay Kumar Biswash, Chiranjeev Kumar
    Abstract:

Location Management is a fundamental issue of mobility Management. It tracks the current location of mobile subscriber and delivers the incoming calls to them. In this paper we have proposed a modeling to estimate the location Management Cost, which is based on home location register Cost, visitor location register Cost, signalling Cost, and paging Cost. The proposed analytical model is helpful in describing the various parameters for overall location Management Cost. The numerical analysis has been carried out to explain the location Management Cost.

  • Study on Spending for Safety Management Cost in Korean Construction Sites
    Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
    Co-Authors: Yoonseok Shin, Gwang-hee Kim
    Abstract:

While safety in the construction industry has been acknowledged as an important issue, there has yet to be a decrease in the number of disasters. For this reason, to manage and control construction disasters, a study should be conducted on the distribution and use of money allocated to safety Management at construction sites. Thus, through an analysis of the current state of safety Management Cost, a distribution plan was sought, by accident type. In this study, the current state of accidents and safety Management Cost of four construction sites were analyzed. In the findings of this study, it was found that crash accidents, which have been reported as the accident type most frequently occurring, can be cut by increasing the safety facility Cost for the prevention of crashes by more than 50 percent
