    Abstract:

    A roll-angle interferometer with high sensitivity is presented in this Letter. Two sets of centrosymmetric beams are used to travel through the Measurement and reference arms of the roll-angle interferometer, which contains two specific optical devices: wedge prism assembly and wedge mirror assembly. Changes of the optical path in the interferometric arms caused by roll are differential and converted into phase shift through a particular interferometer system. The interferometric beams are a completely common path for the adoption of the centrosymmetric Measurement Structure, and the cross talk of the straightness, yaw, and pitch errors is avoided. The dead path is minimized, so the stability and the accuracy of the Measurement can be greatly enhanced. The experimental results fit well with the theoretical analysis, and a Measurement resolution of sub-microradian is achieved experimentally.

    Abstract:

    A method for high resolution roll angle Measurement of linear displacement stages is developed theoretically and tested experimentally. The new optical configuration is based on a special differential plane mirror interferometer, a wedge prism assembly, and a wedge mirror assembly. The wedge prisms assembly is used as a roll angle sensor, which converts roll angle to the changes of optical path. The special interferometer, composed a polarization splitter plane, a half wave plate, a beam splitter, a retro-reflector and a quarter wave plate, is designed for high resolution Measurement of the changes of the optical path. The interferometric beams are a completely common path for the adoption of the centrosymmetrical Measurement Structure, and the cross talk of the straightness, yaw, and pitch errors is avoided.     A roll angle interferometer with high sensitivity is designed in this paper. The optical path change in both arms caused by roll is converted into phase shift which can be measured by interferometer. Because of the adoption of the centrosymmetric Measurement Structure, the straightness errors, yaw error and pitch error can be avoided and the dead path is minimized, so that the stability and the accuracy of the Measurement can be greatly enhanced. The resolution for the roll Measurement is about 0.006″ with the Measurement range of ±1°.

    Abstract:

    The Turkish version of the Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale-9 (DAS-9) items assesses an individual’s level of endorsement of dysfunctional attitudes associated with depression. The purpose of this study was to evaluate factorial reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the DAS-9. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses and the MIMIC model were used to investigate the psychometric properties of the DAS-9. The exploratory factor analysis results indicated a two-factor Structure: (a) personal/internal rigid thoughts, and (b) dysfunctional thoughts involving other people and the external world. Participants at a high risk for depression endorsed the factor scores significantly higher than participants at a lower risk. Overall, the results suggest that the scale is a reliable and valid measure that can be used by clinicians and researchers to measure level of dysfunctional attitudes.

  • A Psychometric Validation of the Employers' Stigmatizing Attitudes Toward Cancer Survivors Scale.

    Abstract:

    Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the Measurement Structure of the Employers’ Stigmatizing Attitudes Toward Cancer Survivors Scale (ESATPD-Cancer Scale). Methods A quantitative descriptive design using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). One hundred and seventy-seven Taiwanese human resources (HR) professionals participated in this study. Results EFA revealed a one-factor Measurement Structure accounting for 50% of the total variance. We conducted a CFA to confirm the one-factor Structure; after two pairs of error terms were correlated, the re-specified model was found to fit the data adequately: χ2/df = 1.69, GFI = 0.97, CFI = 0.98, and RMSEA = 0.06. Internal consistency reliability coefficient (Cronbach’s alpha) for the ESATPD-Cancer Scale was computed to be 0.80. In addition, stigmatizing attitudes were found to be negatively associated with HR professionals’ willingness to hire cancer survivors. Conclusions The results of this study support a one-factor Measurement Structure for the ESATPD-Cancer Scale in a sample of HR professionals in Taiwan. Findings also support a relationship between ESATPD-Cancer Scale scores and HR professionals’ willingness to hire cancer survivors, demonstrating support for the construct validity of the scale.

    The objectives of this study were (1) to evaluate the Measurement Structure of the Perceived Empathic and Social Self-Efficacy Scale amongst 194 individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) and (2) to establish construct validity for the Perceived Empathic and Social Self-Efficacy Scale . Confirmatory factor analysis yielded a two-factor Measurement Structure of the Perceived Empathic and Social Self-Efficacy Scale , which was positively associated with insight, social support, and life satisfaction. The Perceived Empathic and Social Self-Efficacy Scale is a useful measure to assess social skills amongst individuals with SMI in rehabilitation counselling.

It is the best choice for use in cross-section analysis of the effect of gun prevalence on crime patterns across states and larger counties. Analysis of this proxy measure for the period 1979–1997 demonstrates that the geographic Structure of gun ownership has been highly stable. That Structure is closely linked to rural tradition. There is, however, some tendency toward homogenization over this period, with high-prevalence states trending down and low-prevalence states trending up.
