    Abstract:

    Abstract The genus Cercospora contains numerous important plant pathogenic fungi from a diverse range of hosts. Most species of Cercospora are known only from their morphological characters in vivo . Although the genus contains more than 5 000 names, very few cultures and associated DNA sequence data are available. In this study, 360 Cercospora isolates, obtained from 161 host species, 49 host families and 39 countries, were used to compile a molecular phylogeny. Partial sequences were derived from the internal transcribed spacer regions and intervening 5.8S nrRNA, actin, calmodulin, histone H3 and translation elongation factor 1-alpha genes. The resulting phylogenetic clades were evaluated for application of existing species names and five novel species are introduced. Eleven species are epi-, lecto- or neotypified in this study. Although existing species names were available for several clades, it was not always possible to apply North American or European names to African or Asian strains and vice versa . Some species were found to be limited to a specific host genus, whereas others were isolated from a wide host range. No single locus was found to be the ideal DNA barcode gene for the genus, and species identification needs to be based on a combination of gene loci and morphological characters. Additional primers were developed to supplement those previously published for amplification of the loci used in this study. Taxonomic novelties: New species – Cercospora coniogrammes Crous & R.G.     Abstract:

    [Objective]To investigate the express of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in spinal cord and dorsal root ganglion(DRG) of sub-acute Mercurialism rats.[Methods]Fourty SD rats(mal,weighting 180~220 g) were divided into 7 groups.Control group (10 rats) received normal saline (NS) 2 ml by lavage 1 time daily.Group A,B,C(5 rats,respectively) received HgCl2 solution at dose of 17 mg/kg,group D,E,F(5 rats,respectively) received HgCl2 solution at dose of 8.5 mg/kg by lavage,1 time daily.The administration by lavage lasted 18-22 days in all 7 groups.After appearing symptoms of mercury poisoning in mercury group,5 rats of control group and group A and D were dissected and the chelator (DMPS) was injected into the abdomen of alive rats of group B and E at dose of 28 mg/kg for 2 courses(removing mercury 3 days and resting 4 days as a treatment course).Then Group C was given DMPS+ pentoxifylline and group F was injected NS 1ml into the abdomen only (29.22mg/kg lavage,1time /day,totally 14 days).The rats were all dissected and the spinal cord (L5-6)and the DRG of L-5 and L-6 were gotten after the trial finished.Then the pathological section was made after perfusion fixation.DRG and TNF-αexpression was detected according to immunohistochemistry SABC method.[Results]The average gray scale of TNF-α level in spinal cord and DRG of the rats exposed to HgCl2 were significantly lower than that of control group,while average area of positive reactant was significantly higher the control group (P0.05).TNF-α expression was not significantly reduced after two 7-day cycles of group B and E using DMPS for removing mercury and group F using NS intraperitoneal injection.The average gray scale of TNF-α level of group C in spinal cord and DRG increased significantly after 2 courses using DMPS+ pentoxifyllinem,while average area decreased (P0.05).[Conclusion]TNF-αexpression significantly increases in spinal cord and DRG of sub-acute Mercurialism rats,while it can be inhibited effectively by pentoxifylline combined with DMPS.

    【Objective】To investigate the effect of pentoxifylline on tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in spinal cord and dorsal root ganglion (DRG). 【Methods】Forty SD rats (male, weighting 180-220 g) were divided into 7 groups. Group A, B and C (5 rats in each group) received HgCl2 juice at dose of 17 mg/kg (1/4 LD50), group D, E and F (5 rats in each group) received HgCl2 juice at dose of 8.5 mg/kg (1/8 LD50) by gavage daily. Control group (10 rats) received normal saline (NS) 2 mL by gavage daily. The sub-acute mercury poisoning rat models were established within (20±2) days. Then five rats in each of control group, group A and group D were dissected and the chelator (DMPS) was injected into the abdomen of the alive rats of group B and E at dose of 28 mg/kg for 2 periods. Group C was given both DMPS and pentoxifylline and group F was injected 1 mL NS into the abdomen of rats only. The pentoxifylline was used at dose of 29.22 mg/kg by gavage daily for 14 days. The rats were all dissected and the spinal cord (L5-6) and the DRG of L5 and L6 were gotten after the trial was finished, and the pathological sections were made. TNF-α was detected according to immunohistochemistry SABC way. 【Results】The mean gray scale value of TNF-αin spinal cord and DRG of the rats exposed to HgCl2 was decreased significantly compared with that of control group (P 0.05). They are not decreased significantly after two 7-day cycles for group F using NS and groups B and E using DMPS compared with control group. The mean gray scale value of TNF-α in spinal cord and DRG of group C was increased significantly after 2 periods of DMPS and pentoxifylline administration compaired with that of group B (P 0.05).【Conclusion】 TNFαlevels in spinal cord and DRG of sub-acute Mercurialism rats are increased significantly compaired with that of controls and they are inhibited significantly by pentoxifylline combined with DMPS.

    Abstract:

    This is a review on current knowledge of chronic occupational Mercurialism syndrome. Major scientific studies and reviews on clinical manifestation and physiopathology of mercury poisoning were evaluated. The search was complemented using Medline and Lilacs data. Erethism or neuropsychological syndrome, characterized by irritability, personality change, loss of self-confidence, depression, delirium, insomnia, apathy, loss of memory, headaches, general pain, and tremors, is seen after exposure to metallic mercury. Hypertension, renal disturbances, allergies and immunological conditions are also common. Mercury is found in many different work processes: industries, gold mining, and dentistry. As prevention measures are not often adopted there is an increasing risk of mercury poisoning. The disease has been under diagnosed even though 16 clinical forms of mercury poisoning are described by Brazilian regulations. Clinical diagnosis is important, especially because abnormalities in the central nervous, renal and immunological systems can be detected using current medical technology, helping to develop the knowledge and control measures for Mercurialism.

    : The pathogenic relation of chronic Mercurialism and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) was evaluated clinically on 83 ex-mercury workers who were poisoned or exposed to mercury vapor about 18 years ago at one of the biggest mercury mines in Hokkaido, as well as on the causes of 65 expired workers in the cohort. The 83 ex-mercury workers were subdivided into two groups according to severity of mercury poisoning: 31 ex-workers who had been hospitalized for treatment of mercury poisoning and the remaining 52 ex-workers severely exposed to mercury vapor but not hospitalized. Neurologic examinations and measurements of mercury contents in the blood, urine, and hair samples in the 83 cases, failed to disclose any pathogenicity of mercury to ALS. Among these 148 including the 65 deceased cases, no ALS cases were found. Further clinical and epidemiological studies should be required on mercury poisoning as one of the risk factors in the development of ALS, especially in relation to selenium.
