Il a ete identifie comme appartenant au genre Didilia (peut etre D. ooglypta) d'apres la longeur du corps (3,4 mm), la position de la vulve (anterieure) et l'aspect sculpte de l'oeuf. Il s'agit de la premiere observation de Didilia en Europe.

This genus differs from related ones by the extreme anterior position of the vulva and presence of a single gonad in both sexes. After eggs of the nematode are ingested by first instar sandfly larvae, they hatch in the intestine and the juveniles migrate to and develop in the haemocoel. Female nematodes in the haemocoel of adult flies lay eggs by pushing their heads through the abdominal intersegmental membranes of the host. An emended description of the famiJy Tetradonematidae is provided. Resume - Didilia ooglypta n. gen., n. sp. (Tetradonematidae: Mermithoidea : Nematoda), parasite de plebotomes en Afghanistan - Un Tetradonematode nouveau, trouve dans un elevage de laboratoire de Phlebotomus papatasi provenant d'Afghanistan, est decrit et nomme Didilia ooglypta n. gen., n. sp. Ce nouveau genre differe des genres voisins par la position tres anterieure de la vulve et la presence d'une seule gonade chez les deux sexes. Apres avoir ete ingeres par les larves du premier stade, les œufs de ce nematode eclosent dans l'intestin du plebotome, puis les formes juveniles migrent et se developpent dans l'hemocele. Les femelles, toujours localisees dans l'hemocele des phlebotomes adultes, passent ensuite leur tete a travers la membrane inter segmentaire abdominale de l'hote pour pondre leurs œufs.

(Mermithoidea: Tetradonematidae) were obwserved in the fire ant. Solenopsis invicta Buren, for the first time. Five colonies in a sample of 14 colonies from one site in Mato Grosso were infected. The infection rate among adult workers was 12..5% in one colony and less than 5% in each of the remaining colonies. Adult reproductive males and females, eggs, and juvenile nematodes were observed in the haemocoel of male and worker ants. The infected worker ants often can be recognized by their slightly enlarged gasters, the dorsal scierites of which vable changes in behavior: infected adult males contained normal sperm.
