Automatic Detection System of Surface Defects on Metal Film Resistors Based on Machine Vision
Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management 2014, 2015Co-Authors: Jingqian Wen, Lin-wei MaoAbstract:An automatic detection system of surface defects based on machine vision was developed. Metal Film Resistors were chosen as model materials. A CCD camera captures three images while the Metal Film Resistor rotate once to get its full surface image. Using histogram equalization and median filter, the image contrast was improved and contours were smoothed. Global threshold segmentation distinguished the band from the background. Then the anchor point was found in the upper-left corner of the Resistor. Band areas were extracted according to the anchor point. In situations where band areas were found, proposed algorithm recognized defects in terms of the number of band contours and the times from black to white in each pixel-width line. Depending on the above results, PLC controls the motion of the relay, implementing the classification of qualified Resistors and defective Resistors. The system was tested to detect defects in different surroundings and showed a success rate of more than 95%. Future work is being done to design an automatic feeding mechanism to improve feeding speed.

Design and Testing of a Micro Thermal Sensor for Non-Contact Surface Defect Detection
International journal of automation technology, 2017Co-Authors: Yuki Shimizu, Yu-ki Matsuno, Yuan-liu ChenAbstract:This paper presents an experimental study on a new concept of a surface defect detection method, in which surface defects will be detected by monitoring a change in heat flow between a micro thermal sensor and a smoothly-finished measuring surface such as magnetic disks, sapphire substrates and so on. In the proposed method, the micro thermal sensor is designed to detect surface defects without any contacts in between them. Since the change in heat flow across the gap is utilized, the method is expected to find out both the convex and concave defects. Searching for the possibility of the non-contact surface defect detection by the micro thermal sensor, in this paper, a simple heat transfer model is established to estimate the change in heat flow due to the change in gap between the measuring surface and the sensor surface. Some basic experiments are also carried out by using prototype micro thermal sensors, each of which is composed of a pair of electrodes and a thin Metal Film Resistor, fabricated on both the silicon and glass substrates.

Investigation on Preparation of the Target for Metal Film Resistor with High Resistance
Piezoelectrics and Acoustooptics, 2009Co-Authors: Bi Da-pengAbstract:The target for Metal Film Resistor is one of the important factors influencing the quality of Metal Film and the properties of Resistor. The grainrefinement is the key to manufacture tight target.Grainrefining is not only in favor of underlying tissues uniformization of Cr-Si target, but also lowers transition temperature between toughness and brittleness, and makes the target manufactured with high intensity and hardness, good plasticity, which will help to improve the rate of finished targets. In the paper the reason is analyzed on grainrefinement improving combination property of target, and the grainrefining measures taken in the experiment, such as grainrefiner Ti added, electromagnetic stirring and so on,are introduced.Experiment shows mental Film Resistors with resistance 1 MΩ,sputtered on RJ24 production line, have better combination property, and the temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR) is less than 20×10-6/℃.
