Research of Military Engineering damage assessment based on Bayesian network
2011Co-Authors: Zhang HongjunAbstract:For reasoning advantage with Bayesian network theory in resolving the uncertain events,a new damage assessment method is proposed to Military Engineering with Bayesian network.As the system characteristics and requirements to protection Engineering damage assessment,system modeling approach is put forward with decomposition,conversion and integrated rules,system analytical framework is established for modeling in Military Engineering damage assessment after the introduction of Bayesian network theory.On the basis of determining the network nodes variable to Military Engineering damage assessment,network structure and parameters are determined with simulation data,which are used to find the implied probability of dependency relationships and knowledge representation,the confidence model is built in Military Engineering damage evaluation.An example verifies the validity in damage assessment and reasoning with Bayesian network.

2009Co-Authors: Zhang HongjunAbstract:To satisfy the needs of damage analysis,protection evaluation,and protection training in Military Engineering,a simulation structure about damage and protection problems of Military Engineering,based on High Level Architecture/Run Time Infrastructure (HLA/RTI),was put forward. On the foundation of simulation conceptual design,simulation frame and logic function structure were designed and developed with the aim at component reusability and extensibility based on HLA theory. For model problem is the core problem in HLA federal development,simulation model system in damage and protective fields for Military Engineering was established,and model was designed,in following the model frame of the Military training information system. Finally,federal workflow was given,and federal members' behavior design with UML sequence diagram,following federal time strategy.

basement hydrogeology and fortification of the channel islands legacies of british and german Military Engineering
2012Co-Authors: N S Robins, Edward P F Rose, C S CheneyAbstract:The islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney and Sark lie close to the Normandy coast of France. They expose a largely Precambrian crystalline basement of metamorphic and igneous rocks – Jersey and Alderney also expose some early Palaeozoic clastic sediments – and all have a thin but widespread Quaternary sedimentary cover. The three largest islands were progressively fortified by the British between the early 13th and mid-19th centuries, and by German forces during occupation in World War II, a legacy illustrated by the castles, forts and numerous German coastal fortifications that still adorn them. A German Military geologist based on Jersey from mid-1941 to mid-1944, and a Military geological team on Guernsey and Alderney during 1942, generated hydrogeological maps and reports that were then in advance of understanding of crystalline basement aquifers elsewhere in the British Isles. All the major documents have now been found in Germany, the USA and UK, although none survived on the islands themselves. Geological mapping and hydrogeological studies postwar under the auspices of the British Geological Survey were completed without access to German data. However, German and British data together now facilitate an appraisal of the heavily stressed aquifers on these small, hard-rock islands over an unusually long (65 year) timespan.

Introduced by some general essays by important scholars on Leonardo and the Renaissance, the papers of the first part of the book, among other testimonies, deal with: the incunabula of the National Library relating to the treaties once present in Leonardo's library that inspired his training; the Codice Corazza, a seventeenth-century apograph published by Buccaro with the advice of Pedretti in 2011, together with manuscript from Corazza collection in the same library; the Codice Fridericiano, a sixteenth-century apograph from Leonardo's Treatise on Painting, acquired in 2016 by the Center for Libraries of University of Naples Federico II on a proposal by Buccaro and Vecce; the Foglietto del Belvedere of the Foundation Pedretti Archive, studied in detail by Buccaro; the Vari disegni by Giovanni Antonio Nigrone (BNN, Ms. XII.G.60-61, ab. 1598-1603), containing an unpublished project for a mechanical and hydraulic Engineering treatise inspired by Leonardo’s studies. In the second part of the book, the architecture and urban planning graphics contained in the two sixteenth-century albums of the unpublished Codice Tarsia (BNN, Mss. XII.D.1, XII.D.74) have been analyzed for the first time. It a real ‘Book of drawings’ dating back to the 16th century (ab. 1540-98), once belonging to the Prince Spinelli of Tarsia library. This rich documentary repertoire inspired, at the end of that century, the editorial project by Nicola Antonio Stigliola, a philosopher and engineer from Nola: this collection contains some beautiful drawings of Antiquities and architectural projects largely related to Vignola’s works for the Farnese family, as well as very interesting drawings of Italian and European fortified cities, in which the influence of Leonardo's studies about Military Engineering is evident. This Codex, carefully studied and digitally cataloged for Manus Online by scholras of CIRICE and of the National Library, is a precious testimony of the spread of Tuscan and Roman Renaissance in the Southern Italy

2013Co-Authors: Chuanqi Zhao, Jianyun ChenAbstract:Abstract Reinforcement concrete is the principle material for Military Engineering and nuclear power plant. However, impact and explosions could completely destroy such structures, causing tremendous casualties and property loss. Therefore, analyzing the damage mechanism and mode of the structures under blast loading is significant. The objective of this paper is to investigate the dynamics response and damage mechanism of three 1000 mm × 1000 mm × 400 mm reinforcement concrete slabs subjected to 400 mm standoff distance close-in explosions using LS-DYNA software and compare with experimental tests. A three-dimensional material model including explosive, air and reinforcement concrete slab with separated modeling method taking into account Arbitrary Lagrange–Euler, multiple materials algorithms and fluid–structure coupling interaction, is created to simulate the experiments. The sophisticated concrete and reinforcement bar material models, considering the strain rate effects, dynamic increasing factor and equation of state for concrete, are applied in simulating the damage mechanism and dynamic response. From the numerical results and comparison of the experimental data, it can be seen that the numerical results and experimental data shows a favorable agreement and the present model can still give a reliable prediction of the damage characteristic for the reinforcement concrete slabs. It also observed that the increase of the amount of the explosive can change the failure mode of the slab.
