    Abstract:

    Abstract Logistics processes are in the core of transportation, providing a structure for distributing products on an international scale. This Research was conducted as a commissioned Research for a Finnish pharmaceutical wholesaler. In wholesale, logistics process is an important part of the core competencies and optimizing this process can provide significant competitive advantages. The objective of this Research study was to investigate the causes of supply chain fragmentations and the ways to mitigate these effects. The central concepts are used as sustainable logistics process that minimizes carbon dioxide (CO2) emission, offers supply chain visibility, lean distribution channel, offers discrete event simulation and supply chain modelling. The empirical Research employs a Mixed Research Method consisting of both qualitative and quantitative data. Quantitative data is collected from the inbound deliveries of a Finnish pharmaceutical case company and qualitative data is gathered from a questionnaire survey within the case company. This study investigated the current inbound processes of the case company and compared to the developed model of the centralized pipeline system. The objective of this study was to investigate how a centralized logistic system minimizes travel cost to support environmental damage and can provide benefits to the inbound process of the case company. The Research results indicated that a centralized pipeline system can provide improved information flow, higher freight capacity and reduced CO2 emissions to support environmental friendly and sustainable supply chain and logistics processes.

    Abstract:

    Maintenance consumes 40% to 80% of software development costs. So, it is essential to write source code that is easy to understand to reduce the costs with maintenance. Improving code understanding is important because developers often mistake the meaning of code, and misjudge the program behavior, which can lead to errors. There are patterns in source code, such as operator precedence , and comma operator , that have been shown to influence code understanding negatively. Despite initial results, these patterns have not been evaluated in a real-world setting, though. Thus, it is not clear whether developers agree that the patterns studied by Researchers can cause substantial misunderstandings in real-world practice. To better understand the relevance of misunderstanding patterns, we applied a Mixed Research Method approach, by performing repository mining and a survey with developers, to evaluate misunderstanding patterns in 50 C open-source projects, including Apache , OpenSSL , and Python . Overall, we found more than 109K occurrences of the 12 patterns in practice. Our study shows that according to developers only some patterns considered previously by Researchers may cause misunderstandings. Our results complement previous studies by taking the perception of developers into account.

    Abstract:

    This paper mainly focuses on two questions: (1) Which factors mainly influence knowledge interaction in a sustainable interdisciplinary Research team (SIDRT)? and (2) How are knowledge interaction processes structured in a SIDRT? This paper first defines the conception of knowledge interaction in a SIDRT from the complex system perspective. Then the model of key influencing factors in a SIDRT is constructed through grounded theory, including subjects’ attributes, objects’ characteristics, environment, and resources of knowledge interaction. Furthermore, we propose hypotheses and empirically validate our conceptual model. The combination of the two Methods can strengthen the Research conclusions from different angles. Finally, based on our qualitative and quantitative results, the theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
