  • Derivation of supersaturation during precipitation from the Mixing Pattern of an inert tracer in the same device: case of partially premixed feed streams
    Chemical Engineering Science, 2003
    Co-Authors: R David, A Fall, Olivier Lecoq
    Abstract:

The average supersaturation field is predicted for precipitations in the case of partially premixed feed streams by a simple Mixing model from a couple of successive experiments with the same inert tracer by Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence and using a single camera. Then, the mathematical derivation is different from that one used for the unmixed feed case. The corresponding experiments have been achieved in a 90 impinging jets premixer and the supersaturation field was predicted. Due to the non-simultaneity of tracer experiments, a calculation of the averaged nucleation flux is not possible in the premixed feed case. Nevertheless, a comparison between different premixers can be done on the basis of the generated supersaturation levels and fouling risks.

  • Derivation of supersaturation and nucleation flux during precipitation from the Mixing Pattern of an inert tracer in the same device: case of unmixed feed streams
    Chemical Engineering Science, 2003
    Co-Authors: R David, A Fall, Olivier Lecoq
    Abstract:

Inert liquid tracer concentrations in a continuous mixer are analyzed by planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF). Special attention is paid to the two separated entering feed streams containing the tracer solution or pure solvent. From the instantaneous tracer concentration fields, the method proposed allows one to easily calculate the instantaneous supersaturation fields, which would be obtained in the same Mixing device with reagents instead of an inert tracer solution and pure solvent. A typical Mixing situation in a stirred tank with separated feed streams is investigated. Maps of averaged supersaturation and averaged nucleation flux are yielded with high spatial resolution of a few tens of micrometers for each pixel. The method gives interesting indications about the ability of a given precipitator geometry to generate coarse or fine particles. However, it cannot be extended straightforward to partially premixed feed streams without the use of a Mixing model.

  • a variant of 3 3 1 model for the generation of the sm fermion mass and Mixing Pattern
Journal of High Energy Physics, 2018
    Co-Authors: A Carcamo E Hernandez, Sergey Kovalenko, H N Long, Ivan Schmidt
    Abstract:

We propose an extension of the 3-3-1 model with an additional symmetry group $$ {Z}_2\times {Z}_4\times \mathrm{U}{(1)}_{L_g} $$ and an extended scalar sector. To our best knowledge this is the first example of a renormalizable 3-3-1 model, which allows explanation the SM fermion mass hierarchy by a sequential loop suppression: tree-level top and exotic fermion masses, 1-loop bottom, charm, tau and muon masses; 2-loop masses for the light up, down, strange quarks as well as for the electron. The light active neutrino masses are generated from a combination of linear and inverse seesaw mechanisms at two loop level. The model also has viable fermionic and scalar dark matter candidates.

  • the 750 gev diphoton resonance can cause the sm fermion mass and Mixing Pattern
arXiv: High Energy Physics - Phenomenology, 2015
    Co-Authors: A Carcamo E Hernandez
    Abstract:

I propose a $Z_2\times Z_{14}$ multiscalar singlet extension of the Standard Model (SM) that successfully explains the $750$ GeV diphoton excess recently found at the LHC and the observed SM fermion mass and Mixing Pattern. The diphoton excess arises from a $Z_{14}$ charged scalar singlet $\chi$ whose one-loop decays into photon and gluon pairs are triggered by a virtual exotic quark of electric charge $\frac{8}{3}$. The $Z_{14}$ charged scalar singlet $\chi $ generates the observed charged fermion mass and quark Mixing Pattern. Light active neutrino masses are generated at one loop level, which involves two heavy Majorana neutrinos and the real and imaginary parts of the $Z_2$ odd neutral SM scalar singlet $\eta$, running in the loops. The observed diphoton excess sets an upper bound of about $1.8$ TeV for the $Z_{14}$ discrete symmetry breaking scale. The unbroken $Z_2$ symmetry of the model allows for natural dark matter candidates.

  • fermion mass and Mixing Pattern in a minimal t7 flavor 331 model
arXiv: High Energy Physics - Phenomenology, 2015
    Co-Authors: A Carcamo E Hernandez, Roberto Martinez
    Abstract:

We present a model based on the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ gauge symmetry having an extra $T_{7}\otimes Z_{2}\otimes Z_{3}\otimes Z_{14} $ flavor group, which successfully describes the observed SM fermion mass and Mixing Pattern. In this framework, the light active neutrino masses arise via double seesaw mechanism and the observed charged fermion mass and quark Mixing hierarchy is a consequence of the $Z_{2}\otimes Z_{3}\otimes Z_{14}$ symmetry breaking at very high energy. In our minimal $T_{7}$ flavor 331 model, the spectrum of neutrinos includes very light active neutrinos as well as heavy and very heavy sterile neutrinos. The model has in total 16 effective free parameters, which are fitted to reproduce the experimental values of the 18 physical observables in the quark and lepton sectors. The obtained physical observables for both quark and lepton sectors are compatible with their experimental values. The model predicts the effective Majorana neutrino mass parameter of neutrinoless double beta decay to be $% m_{\beta \beta }=$ 3 and 40 meV for the normal and the inverted neutrino spectrum, respectively. Furthermore, our model features a vanishing leptonic Dirac CP violating phase.

  • s_3 discrete group as a source of the quark mass and Mixing Pattern in 331 models
arXiv: High Energy Physics - Phenomenology, 2014
Co-Authors: A Carcamo E Hernandez, Roberto Martinez, Jorge Nisperuza
    Abstract:

We propose a model based on the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ gauge symmetry with an extra $S_{3}\otimes Z_{2}\otimes Z_{4}\otimes Z_{12}$ discrete group, which successfully accounts for the SM quark mass and Mixing Pattern. The observed hierarchy of the SM quark masses and quark Mixing matrix elements arises from the $Z_{4}$ and $Z_{12}$ symmetries, which are broken at very high scale by the $SU(3)_{L}$ scalar singlets ($\sigma$,$\zeta$) and $\tau $, charged under these symmetries, respectively. The Cabbibo Mixing arises from the down type quark sector whereas the up quark sector generates the remaining quark Mixing angles. The obtained magnitudes of the CKM matrix elements, the CP violating phase and the Jarlskog invariant are in agreement with the experimental data.

  • s_3 flavour symmetry breaking scheme for understanding the quark mass and Mixing Pattern in su left 3 right _ c otimes su left 3 right _ l otimes u left 1 right _ x models
arXiv: High Energy Physics - Phenomenology, 2014
    Co-Authors: A Carcamo E Hernandez, R Martinez, Jorge Nisperuza
    Abstract:

We propose a minimal $S_3$ flavour model based on the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ gauge symmetry accounting for a realistic Pattern of SM quark masses and Mixings. We found that after the symmetry breaking all the down type quarks acquire tree level masses, while in the SM up sector only the top quark is massive. The massless up-type quarks get their masses from effective six dimensional operators. In particular, the up quark mass arises from a seesaw type mechanism with the top quark and the six dimensional operators. The smallness of the up quark mass can be understood by a small deviation in the universality of the dimensionless couplings associated to the effective operators. The obtained magnitudes of the CKM matrix elements, the CP violating phase and the Jarlskog invariant are in agreement with the experimental data.

  • analyzing the social networks of contributors in open source software community
Applications of Social Media and Social Network Analysis, 2015
    Co-Authors: Mohammad Y Allaho
    Abstract:

We conduct an extensive statistical analysis on the social networks of contributors in Open Source Software (OSS) communities using datasets collected from two most fast-growing OSS social interaction sites, Github.com and Ohloh.net. Our goal is to analyze the connectivity structure of the social networks of contributors and to investigate the effect of the different social ties structures on developers’ overall productivity to OSS projects. We, first, analyze the general structure of the social networks, e.g., graph distances and the degree distribution of the social networks. Our social network structure analysis confirms a power-law degree distribution and small-world characteristics. However, the degree Mixing Pattern shows that high degree nodes tend to connect more with low degree nodes suggesting a collaboration between experts and newbie developers. We further conduct the same analysis on affiliation networks and find that contributors tend to participate in projects of similar team sizes. Second, we study the correlation between various social factors (e.g., closeness and betweenness centrality, clustering coefficient and tie strength) and the productivity of the contributors in terms of the amount of contribution and commitment to OSS projects. The analysis is conducted under the contexts of global and local networks, where a global network analysis considers a developer’s connectivity in the whole OSS community network, whereas a local network analysis considers a developer’s connectivity within a team network that is affiliated to a project. The analysis demonstrates evident influence of the social factors on the developers’ overall productivity.

  • t2k indication of relatively large θ_ 13 and a natural perturbation to the democratic neutrino Mixing Pattern
    Chinese Physics C, 2012
    Co-Authors: Zhizhong Xing
    Abstract:

The T2K Collaboration has recently reported a remarkable indication of the nu(mu) -> nu(e) oscillation which is consistent with a relatively large value of theta(13) in the three-flavor neutrino Mixing scheme. We show that it is possible to account for such a result of theta(13) by introducing a natural perturbation to the democratic neutrino Mixing Pattern, without or with CP violation. A testable correlation between theta(13) and theta(23) is predicted in this ansatz. We also discuss the Wolfenstein-like parametrization of neutrino Mixing, and comment on other possibilities of generating sufficiently large theta(13) at the electroweak scale.
