The Application of the Unified Modeling Language in Object-Oriented Analysis of Healthcare Information Systems
Journal of Medical Systems, 2002Co-Authors: Vinod AggarwalAbstract:This paper concerns itself with the beneficial effects of the Unified Modeling Language (UML), a nonproprietary object Modeling Standard, in specifying, visualizing, constructing, documenting, and communicating the model of a healthcare information system from the user's perspective. The author outlines the process of object-oriented analysis (OOA) using the UML and illustrates this with healthcare examples to demonstrate the practicality of application of the UML by healthcare personnel to real-world information system problems. The UML will accelerate advanced uses of object-orientation such as reuse technology, resulting in significantly higher software productivity. The UML is also applicable in the context of a component paradigm that promises to enhance the capabilities of healthcare information systems and simplify their management and maintenance.

Ecological Modelling, 1997Co-Authors: Thomas Maxwell, Robert CostanzaAbstract:Abstract Creating an effective environment for collaborative spatio-temporal model development will require computational systems that provide support for the user in three key areas: (1) Support for modular, hierarchical model construction and archiving/linking of simulation modules; (2) support for graphical, icon-based model construction; (3) transparent, seamless support for state of the art distributed computing. The key requirement for this support is the adoption of a Modeling Standard, either in the form of an interface specification language (ISL), or a modular Modeling language (MML). The ISL supports remote linking of simulation modules developed in disparate languages and environments. The MML provides a language Standard for the development and archiving of simulation modules. Optimally, the implementation of these languages will include seamless links to graphical, icon-based simulation environments and distributed computing environments. In this paper we discuss the authors' program to develop and implement an MML-based integrated environment designed to provide this support for distributed modular spatio-temporal Modeling.

Testing Analysis on a Kind of PV Generation Simulation System Using RT-LAB
High Voltage Engineering, 2010Co-Authors: Feng YuAbstract:The maximum power point tracking(MPPT) controller in the Photovoltaic system is the key mean to verify all kinds of MPPT control algorithms.But the development of actual controller has the defects of needing long periods,artificial code writing and so on.RT-LAB real-time simulation platform is an advanced model-based engineering design and test application platform.The outstanding real-time performance in the current experimental study and engineering design made it used more and more widely.Therefore,it is necessary to introduce its hardware and software structure and real-time performance in detail.This paper gare a comprehensive and systematic introduction to hardware architecture,software architecture and simulation process of RT-LAB.It also presented a semi-physical simulation experiment of photovoltaic system MPPT using the features of Photovoltaic MPPT and semi-physical Real-Time simulation technology.The MPPT control strategy is achieved by establishing model using simulink package.Other parts of the main circuit were physical circuit except controller.The parameter adjustment functions on line of RT-LAB can easily optimize controller parameters.Two special tools ARTEMIS and RT-Events used in power electronics were described in detail.The RT-LAB software Modeling Standard was also illustrated.The testing results showed that the usage of RT-LAB for the development of photovoltaic controller can resolve many problems in the current controller development.The application of RT-LAB in photovoltaic systems provides a reference for the microgrid,smartgrid and other real-time systems.
