    Abstract:

    This paper will first briefly survey the existing impact of Multimedia Information retrieval (MIR) in applications. It will then analyze the current trends of MIR research which can have an influence on future applications. It will then detail the future possibilities and bottlenecks in applying the MIR research results in the main target application areas, such as the consumer (e.g., personal video recorders, web Information retrieval), public safety (e.g., automated smart surveillance systems), and professional world (e.g., automated meeting capture and summarization). In particular, recommendations will be made to the research community regarding the challenges that need to be met to make the knowledge transfer towards the applications more efficient and effective. It will also attempt to study the trends in the applications which can inform the MIR community on directing intellectual resources towards MIR problems which can have a maximal real-world impact.

    Abstract:

    Content-based Multimedia Information retrieval (MIR) has become one of the most active research areas in the past few years. Many retrieval approaches based on extracting and representing visual properties of Multimedia data have been developed. While these approaches establish the viability of MIR based on visual features, techniques for incorporating human expertise directly during the query process to improve retrieval performance have not drawn enough attention. To address this limitation, this paper introduces a human-computer interaction based approach to MIR in which the user guides the system during retrieval using relevance feedback. Our experiments show that the retrieval performance improves significantly by incorporating humans in the retrieval process

    Multimedia Information security becomes a important part for the organization's intangible assets. Level of confidence and stakeholder trusted are performance indicator as successes organization, it is imperative for organizations to use Information Security Management System (ISMS) to effectively manage their Multimedia Information assets. The main objective of this paper is to Provide a novel practical framework approach to the development of ISMS, Called by the I-SolFramework, implemented in Multimedia Information security architecture (MISA), it divides a problem into six object domains or six layers, namely organization,stakeholders, tool & technology, policy, knowledge, and culture. In addition, this framework also introduced novelty algorithm and mathematic models as measurement and assessment tools of MISA parameters.

    As the first decade of the 21st century comes to a close, growth in Multimedia delivery infrastructure and public demand for applications built on this backbone are converging like never before. The push towards reaching truly interactive Multimedia technologies becomes stronger as our media consumption paradigms continue to change. In this paper, we profile a technology leading the way in this revolution: active learning. Active learning is a strategy that helps alleviate challenges inherent in Multimedia Information retrieval through user interaction. We show how active learning is ideally suited for the Multimedia Information retrieval problem by giving an overview of the paradigm and component technologies used with special attention given to the application scenarios in which these technologies are useful. Finally, we give insight into the future of this growing field and how it fits into the larger context of Multimedia Information retrieval.

    Abstract:

    Today's Multimedia search engines are expected to respond to queries reflecting a wide variety of Information needs from users with different goals. The topical dimension (“what” the user is searching for) of these Information needs is well studied; however, the intent dimension (“why” the user is searching) has received relatively less attention. Specifically, intent is the “immediate reason, purpose, or goal” that motivates a user to query a search engine. We present a thorough survey of Multimedia Information retrieval research directed at the problem of enabling search engines to respond to user intent. The survey begins by defining intent, including a differentiation from related, often-confused concepts. It then presents the key conceptual models of search intent. The core is an overview of intent-aware approaches that operate at each stage of the Multimedia search engine pipeline (i.e., indexing, query processing, ranking). We discuss intent in conventional text-based search wherever it provides insight into Multimedia search intent or intent-aware approaches. Finally, we identify and discuss the most important future challenges for intent-aware Multimedia search engines. Facing these challenges will allow Multimedia Information retrieval to recognize and respond to user intent and, as a result, fully satisfy the Information needs of users.
