  • The research on web service based Network Management
    Journal of Networks, 2010
    Co-Authors: Wen-bo Dong
    Abstract:

This paper proposes Web Service based Network Management. The Web Service based Network Management system is analyzed. It consists of Network Management layer, collaborative Management implementation layer, and Management function layer mainly. The complex Management Network tasks can be accomplished respectively by more than one Web Service distributed on Internet and the Web Services interchange information based on XML message. The SNMP/XML gateway and the translation between GDMO/ASN.1 and XML/Schema are designed and implemented to implement the integration between the legacy Network Management systems and the Network Management developed by Web Service technologies. The service Management in Web Service based Network Management is discussed. Service composition/re-composition in Web Service based Network Management is analyzed based on the QoS requirements negotiation between the Network Management requirements and the statement of Web Service and Network, OWL-S being used to described the Network Management requirements to discover the suitable Web Service, BPEL being used to describe the Web Service composition.

  • XML-based Network Management
Journal of Hunan Industry Polytechnic, 2005
    Co-Authors: Chen Aiqun
    Abstract:

The article briefly introduces the actuality of Network Management and the basic knowledge of the XML. It analyses the development foreground of XML-based Network Management. It further discusses the application of the XML-based web Management.

  • XML-based Network Management
Handbook of Network and System Administration, 2008
Co-Authors: Mi-jung Choi, James Won Ki Hong
    Abstract:

This chapter examines how XML technologies can be applied to Network Management tasks: modeling Management information, instrumenting managed resources, Management operations, communication between manager and agent, analyzing the data, and presenting the analysis result to users. An architectural framework for the development of XML-based Network Management systems have been presented. This framework can be used as a guideline for developing Management systems. XML enables data to carry its metainformation in the form of an XML document. The metainformation is used for searching, filtering, and processing efficiently. The main benefits of XML are simplicity, extensibility, and openness. The simplicity of XML relies on tree structured text-based encoding of data, so one can easily create, read, and modify XML documents with even the most primitive text processing tools. XNM is a collection of Network Management methods that applies XML technologies to Network Management. Therefore, XNM employs the advantages of XML technologies and one can easily develop Network Management system using XML technologies. XML technology is viewed by many as a revolutionary approach for solving the problems that exist in current standards and practices for Network and systems Management. More work is needed to prove this by developing not only standards but also applying to manage real Networks and systems. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Wireless Sensor Network Management Technology
    Computer Science, 2011
    Co-Authors: Du Teng-fei
    Abstract:

Wireless sensor Networks are resource-constrained and application-related.Wireless sensor Networks are different from other traditional computer Networks,so the traditional Network Management is no longer applied to wireless sensor Networks and wireless sensor Network Management is faced with many challenges. This paper briefly described the technology background of the wireless sensor Network Management;gave the corresponding Management characteri-stics in wireless sensor Networks with the characteristics of wireless sensor Network itself;then put forward a common framework of wireless sensor Network Management and discussed the contents of the various Management and research progress in detail;finally,we discussed the public challenges facing the wireless sensor Network Management and poin-ted out the future research directions.

  • Network Management: Network Management: interoperability and information model
    Computer Communications, 1991
    Co-Authors: Tie Liao, Dominique Seret
    Abstract:

Interoperability is an essential and significant issue that constrains the original goals and functionality of integrated Network Management systems. This paper shows how this issue can be solved by using a common Management information model and a common, Management information exchange protocol. The paper also describes the general issues and a methodology for the construction of a Management information model in a heterogeneous environment. By means of object-oriented techniques, a basic Management information model is proposed. Based on this model, a general Management information base can be built that will enhance the interoperability of Network Management systems.
