the occipital lobe convexity sulci and gyri laboratory investigation
Journal of Neurosurgery, 2012Co-Authors: Raphael Vicente Alves, Guilherme Carvalhal Ribas, Richard Gonzalo Parraga, Evandro De OliveiraAbstract:Object The anatomy of the occipital lobe convexity is so intricate and variable that its precise description is not found in the classic anatomy textbooks, and the occipital sulci and gyri are described with different Nomenclatures according to different authors. The aim of this study was to investigate and describe the anatomy of the occipital lobe convexity and clarify its Nomenclature. Methods The configurations of sulci and gyri on the lateral surface of the occipital lobe of 20 cerebral hemispheres were examined in order to identify the most characteristic and consistent patterns. Results The most characteristic and consistent occipital sulci identified in this study were the intraoccipital, transverse occipital, and lateral occipital sulci. The morphology of the transverse occipital sulcus and the intraoccipital sulcus connection was identified as the most important aspect to define the gyral pattern of the occipital lobe convexity. Conclusions Knowledge of the main features of the occipital sulci a...

Geographical and temporal distribution of SARS-CoV-2 clades in the WHO European Region, January to June 2020
Eurosurveillance, 2020Co-Authors: Erik Alm, Eeva Broberg, Thomas Connor, Emma Hodcroft, Andrey Komissarov, Sebastian Maurer-stroh, Angeliki Melidou, Richard Neher, Áine O'toole, Dmitriy PereyaslovAbstract:We show the distribution of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) genetic clades over time and between countries and outline potential genomic surveillance objectives. We applied three genomic Nomenclature systems to all sequence data from the World Health Organization European Region available until 10 July 2020. We highlight the importance of real-time sequencing and data dissemination in a pandemic situation, compare the Nomenclatures and lay a foundation for future European genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2.

Revised Nomenclature of Clostridium difficile toxins and associated genes
Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2005Co-Authors: Maja Rupnik, Bruno Dupuy, Neil Fairweather, Dale Gerding, Stuart Johnson, Ingo Just, David Lyerly, Michel Robert Popoff, Julian I. Rood, Abraham L SonensheinAbstract:Several different Nomenclatures have been applied to the Clostridium difficile toxins and their associated genes. This paper summarizes the new Nomenclature that has been agreed to by the research groups currently active in the field. The revised Nomenclature includes C. difficile toxins and other related large clostridial toxins produced by Clostridium sordellii and Clostridium novyi, and corresponding toxin genes, as well as toxin production types of C. difficile strains.
