  • Magneto-Optical Glass mixed with Tb3+ ions: High Verdet constant and luminescence properties
    Journal of Luminescence, 1
    Co-Authors: Huihui Yang, Zhongli Zhu
    Abstract:

Abstract Compared with crystal and transparent ceramics, magneto-Optical Glass is an attractive choice for applications in communication and larger power laser systems. However, the presence of rare-earth ions in magneto-Optical Glass can cause devitrification of the Glass and require a higher melting temperature. This study aims to address these issues. High-temperature melting quenching technology was used to prepare highly transparent Tb3+ ion-doped GeO2-PbO-B2O3–SiO2 (GPBS) magneto-Optical Glass. Through XRD, FT-IR, DSC, chemical corrosion resistance, density test, UV–vis, fluorescence test, and Faraday rotation test, the effects of different Tb3+ ion concentrations on the thermal performance, chemical stability, structure, luminescence performance and magneto-Optical performance of heavy metal oxide magneto-optic Glass were studied. Notably, these Glass materials exhibit high density, refractive index, Optical basicity value, good thermal properties (101 °C), strong water and alkali resistance, excellent Faraday effect. The Verdet constants at different wavelengths also had notably high values. It was found that such Glass has a strong green light emission at 544 nm, which demonstrates that this type of magneto-Optical Glass has broader application prospects in the preparation of laser elements and optoelectronic functional devices.

  • Study on corrosion of Optical Glass
AOPC 2019: AI in Optics and Photonics, 2019
Co-Authors: You Zhou, Wang Jiuwang, Yun Wang, Fu Yang, Ran Zhao, Peng Jiao
    Abstract:

The corrosion of Optical Glass has become the main factor affecting the qualified rate of products, so it is urgent to solve the corrosion of products. It has been found that under the same cleaning conditions, corrosion mostly occurs on the small side, that is, the first side of polishing, while the other side is not corroded. This indicates that cleaning has little effect on the corrosion of fiberboard. Corrosion occurs in polishing and the process of upper and lower discs. According to the different conditions of two-sided processing, the causes and influencing factors of corrosion were analyzed. By refining the processing technology and adjusting the proportions of protective paint, turning temperature and water stain and other process parameters to achieve the goal of effective controlling the corrosion within 2%.

  • Wavelength dependence of Tb3+ doped magneto-Optical Glass Verdet constant
    Ceramics International, 2018
Co-Authors: Hairong Yin, Gao Yang, Yuxuan Gong, Relva C. Buchanan, Song Jianbo, Li Mingyang
    Abstract:

Abstract Magneto-Optical Glass is a category of Optical materials. In this study, a series of Tb3+ doped Ga2O3–B2O3–SiO2–GeO2 (GBSG) Glasses were prepared and studied. Through the density test, it was found that the structure of the magneto-Optical Glass tended to be dense. At the same time, the result of infrared spectrum shows that some changes happened to the structure of the sample with different Tb3 + concentration, resulting in the change of the density of the magneto-Optical Glass. The wavelength dependence of the Verdet constant has been studied. The results show that the rate of change of the Verdet constant at different wavelengths has nothing to do with the Tb3+ concentration, but only with the effective transition wavelength. The effective transition wavelength of the sample was calculated by the formula, and the source of the magneto-Optical effect of the rare earth doped magneto-Optical Glass was confirmed.
