Protein degradation of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) muscle after postmortem superchilled and refrigerated storage
Taylor & Francis Group, 2018Co-Authors: Chaomin Zhang, Xiaotao SunAbstract:The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of superchilling at −2°C in comparison with refrigerated storage at 4°C on the protein degradation of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) muscle. Flounder muscle softened and shear force value decreased markedly (P

The correlations data between whether liposomes are coated or not and flatfish's (Paralichthys olivaceus) Streptococcus parauberis antibody formation ability and survival rates.
Data in brief, 2019Co-Authors: Hyun-ja Han, Chan-il Park, Mi Young Cho, Deok Chan Lee, Kwang Il Kim, Sung-hee Jung, Andre KimAbstract:Abstract Streptococcus parauberis is a known etiologic agent that causes damage leading to death in flatfish (Paralichthys olivaceus). Liposomes were used to deliver streptococcal oral vaccines to the intestinal mucous membranes of Paralichthys olivaceus. The liposomes were coated for stabilization, and stability was measured with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The liposomes were stable until day nine and were orally administered to flatfish as a vaccine. The resultant antibody titers were analyzed. The titers resulting from the uncoated liposomes were highest two weeks after the oral administration, and those resulting from the coated liposomes were highest one week after boosting. In addition, the bacteria were subcutaneously injected to artificially infect flatfish and the survival rates and relative survival rates were analyzed. The coated liposomes were found to yield the highest survival rate.

Differential expression of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) transcriptome during viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV) infection at warmer and colder temperature
Elsevier, 2018Co-Authors: Ji-min Jeong, Joseph Jeswin, Jin-sol Bae, Chan-il ParkAbstract:The data presented here are related to the research article entitled “Temperature-dependent immune response of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) infected with viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV)” [1]. In the cited article, we sequenced the whole transcriptome of the olive flounder using Illumina RNA-Seq. Differentially expressed genes (DEG) analysis of VHSV infected head kidney samples showed perturbations in gene expression. Herein we made a comparison of DEGs at early stage of VHSV infection of olive flounder (4 h post infection) in colder (13 °C) and warmer (20 °C) temperatures. The analysis of signaling pathways showed that several major immune pathways were altered. The gene ontology terms associated with the genes differentially expressed are also presented. VACCINATION AGAINST Vibrio Anguillarum ON CULTURED FLOUNDER, Paralichthys olivaceus
Marine Sciences, 2002Co-Authors: Mo ZhaoAbstract:The efficacy of three vaccine formulations, a whole cell bacterin (CV), a whole cell with extrocellular products vaccine (CEV) and a lipopolysacchride vaccine (LPS), which are against Vibrio anguillarum M3 was evaluated by the route of immersion and injection in flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus. The evident antibody titres were detected obviously in the twice vaccinated fish 4 weeks after immunization, in which the injection group revealed higher antibody titres than the immersion group did, whereas the unvaccinated group did not showed evident change in the antibody tirtres. The vaccinated fish also showed higher relative percent survival (RPS) against bacteria than the unvaccinated fish did, in which the RPS of the injected group was higher than that of the immersion group. ECV, as well as CEV and LPS showed efficient protections in the injection and the immersion route, respectively. Results revealed that the protection of CEV against Vibrio anguillarum M3 was conspicuous.

Bioinformatic analysis of SSR markers in transcriptomic sequenceing Paralichthys olivaceus
2015Co-Authors: Li ChaAbstract:Transcriptomic sequencing was performed on Japanese flounder( Paralichthys olivaceus),and the Microsatellite( MISA) software was used to identify and analyze the SSRs with 1-6 base repeats and base above 10 bp. A total of 42 183 SSRs were identified, distributed in 26 457 unigenes, which accounted for27. 12% of total number of unigenes and the distribution density of the transcriptomic SSRs from transcriptome were 339 / Mbp. In total,we found 216 different types of repeat motifs,in which the dinucleotide repeats SSRs were the major types with the number of 17 570,accounting for 41. 65% of all SSRs identified. Meanwhile, the polymorphism of all transcriptomic SSRs was assessed by SPSS statistics 20. 0 software.

Study on the cultural technique of Japanese flounder,Paralichthys olivaceus, from the Taiwan Strait
Marine Sciences, 2006Co-Authors: Zeng Qing-minAbstract:The cultural technique of Japanese flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, in the Taiwan Strait was reported in present paper. The artificial seed of Paralichthys olivaceus was cultured in indoor cement pond throughout 189 d and about 115 thousand individuals of fish with 32.2 cm in average total length and 402.1 g in average body mass were obtained. The livability was as high as 96%.The experimental result shows that the growth rate of Paralichthys olivaceus in the Taiwan Strait was speedier than that of Paralichthys olivaceus in the Yellow Sea and in the Bohai Sea. The water temperature is markedly correlative to the growth rate of Paralichthys olivaceus and the optimum water temperature for their growth was 18~27 ℃.The food added an appropriate amount of properly herbal medicine was of obvious effect on improving survive rate of Paralichthys olivaceus.
