    Abstract:

    Remote user Authentication is a way to restrict access to only those users that are legitimate for remote access. The authentication mechanism is cryptography technique to protect unauthorized access of a network system. Recently, more efficient ID-based and Password authentication schemes are proposed by, H.T. Liaw, Wang and Xu R. Song, however, Liaw's and Wang's scheme are vulnerable to offline Password Attack and server masquerade Attack parallel session Attack. Xu's scheme is vulnerable to an impersonation Attack and R. Song's Scheme is vulnerable to insider Attack, lack of perfect forward security for session keys and denial-of-service Attack. In 2010 S.K. Sood proposed an improvement of Liao et al's scheme. However, this scheme did not provided mutual authentication and maintaining database for verification of the legitimate user. In this paper, we analyze few Attacks and finally propose an Efficient Smart card based Remote User Authentication Scheme. The proposed scheme resists most of the current possible Attack and provides the essential security requirements.

    Abstract:

    The User Authentication mechanism technology has enjoyed strong growth in recent year, but security threats and facing Attacks in authentication have grown equally fast. Today, there are many potential Attacks that are targeted at authentication including insider Attack, masquerade Attack, server spoofing Attack, parallel session Attack, offline Password guessing Attack and many more. Recently, In 2010 R. Song proposed advanced smart card based Password authentication protocol with such non-tamper resistant smart card based on symmetric key cryptosystem as well as modular exponentiation. R. Song et al Scheme is vulnerable to the offline Password Attack, insider Attack; forward secrecy and denial of service Attack are cryptanalyses by W B Horng. In this article, we will propose an efficient ID-based authentication scheme which can avoid all type of security flaws. The functionally, performance and security analysis show that our proposed scheme is feasible in terms of computation cost, storage capacity and the scheme can resist server Attack.

    Abstract:

    The telecare medical information systems (TMISs) enable patients to conveniently enjoy telecare services at home. The protection of patient's privacy is a key issue due to the openness of communication environment. Authentication as a typical approach is adopted to guarantee confidential and authorized interaction between the patient and remote server. In order to achieve the goals, numerous remote authentication schemes based on cryptography have been presented. Recently, Arshad et al.(J Med Syst 38(12): 2014) presented a secure and efficient three-factor authenticated key exchange scheme to remedy the weaknesses of Tan et al.'s scheme (J Med Syst 38(3): 2014). In this paper, we found that once a successful off-line Password Attack that results in an adversary could impersonate any user of the system in Arshad et al.'s scheme. In order to thwart these security Attacks, an enhanced biometric and smart card based remote authentication scheme for TMISs is proposed. In addition, the BAN logic is applied to demonstrate the completeness of the enhanced scheme. Security and performance analyses show that our enhanced scheme satisfies more security properties and less computational cost compared with previously proposed schemes.

  • Improved Kerberos Protocol Based on Certificateless Key Agreement

    Abstract:

    Kerberos authentication protocol is apt to suffer Password Attack and replay Attack,and it needs double bilinear logarithmic operations,double exponent arithmetic and one dot multiplication on elliptic curve.Aiming at vulnerability and large amount of computation of Kerberos authentication protocol,this paper improves it with the help of high-efficient certificateless key agreement.In order to resist masquerade Attacks,the certificateless signcryption technology is used between a user and authentication service.Analysis result proves that the improved protocol meets six basic security demands of key agreement.That’s to say,it can satisfy with the requirements of known key security,perfect forward security,resisting unknown key sharing security,keys’ uncontrollability and temporal known session information security.It can resist Password Attack,replay Attack,intermediary Attack and key exposure impersonation Attack,and has higher efficiency with only three dot multiplications.

    Abstract:

    This paper introduces the authentication system of Kerberos protocol, and has a detailed analysis of the Kerberos protocol security.On this condition, it imports the scheme of visual cryptography into Kerberos protocol and constructs a new authentication scheme based on visual cryptography.It analyses the safety of Kerberos protocol, and the result shows that the new scheme can resist Password Attack and replay Attack.

    Abstract:

    One of the common necessity to have secret communication through Internet is to authenticate the legality of users. The simplest and most popular authentication technique to have secret communication through Internet is remote user authentication scheme. Recently, Kumar proposed an enhanced amart card-based remote user authentication scheme. Their scheme was robust and easy to implement. They claimed that their scheme could against explicit key authentication, replay Attack, stolen-verifier Attacks, forward secrecy, denial of service Attacks, impersonation Attacks, mutual authentication, parallel session Attack, Password guessing Attacks, smart card loss Attacks, Attack via registered identity, and Attack via Password. In this article, we will show that Kumar's scheme is vulnerable to the off-line guessing Password Attack. In this article, we also propose an improved Kumar's enhanced smart card-based remote user authentication scheme to withstand the vulnerability in their scheme.
