Locally Risk-minimizing Hedging Strategies for General Payment Process
2002Co-Authors: Wang Chun-faAbstract:This paper deals with the problem of determining locally risk-minimizing hedging strategies when the hedger's liablities are described by a general payoff stream. Under the assumptiom that the price procee of risky asset is assumed to be a semimartingale under original probability measure, we prove existence and uniqueness of the locally risk-minimizing strategy. Our results contains previous locally risk-minimizing hedging as special cases. In the martingale case, our locally risk-minimizing strategy reduces to Mller\'s one.

Risk-minimizing hedging strategies for insurance Payment Processes
Finance and Stochastics, 2001Co-Authors: Thomas MøllerAbstract:Follmer and Sondermann (1986) proved the existence of a unique admissible risk-minimizing hedging strategy for any square-integrable contingent claim H in the martingale case. We extend this approach to the situation where the hedger's liabilities are described by a general Payment Process A and consider some examples related to insurance. These include a general unit-linked life insurance contract driven by a Markov jump Process and a claim Process from non-life insurance where the claim size distribution is affected by a traded price index.

In this paper we briefly present a Payment scheme that is deployed and currently used by AN.ON. The main contribution of this paper is a security analysis of the most important cryptographic protocols involved in the Payment Process. The analysis of the protocols shows that they contain several weaknesses that need to be addressed to provide a fair service. We show how an attacker can use the weaknesses to surf on other's credits. Finally, we propose a fix for the protocols in order to withstand the encountered attacks.

Risk-minimizing portfolio selection for insurance Payment Processes under a Markov-modulated model

The parameters of the Levy Process switch over time according to the different states of an economy, which is described by a finite-state continuous time Markov chain. Employing the local risk minimization method, we find an optimal hedging strategy for a general Payment Process. Finally, we give an example for single unit-linked insurance contracts with guarantee to display the specific locally risk-minimizing hedging strategy.

The Adoption of Public E-Payment Services

The possibility of transferring money online plays an important role for those e-government initiatives that include financial transactions, such as paying taxes, fees, or fines. This paper combines the issues of e-Payment and e-government, and proposes a model that depicts important factors influencing users' online Payment behavior. A structural equation modeling (SEM) approach has been used to assess the strength of the relationships among different constructs, including users' previous experience, their trust in e-Payment security, and the perceived convenience of the Payment Process. 2004Co-Authors: Horst Treiblmaier, Andreas Pinterits, Arne FlohAbstract:In order to succeed, electronic government initiatives frequently pass a number of different stages, starting with a static Web site used solely for providing information (one-way) and ending with fully interactive sites that are capable of handling a multitude of transactions that may occur in the lifelong relationship between a government and its citizens. The possibility of transferring money online plays an important role for those e-government initiatives that include financial transactions such as paying taxes, fees, or fines. Even though there is a great deal of academic literature on e-Payment and e-government issues, this paper combines both topics and proposes a framework and a measurement model that depicts important factors influencing users’ online Payment behavior. A structural equation modeling approach has been used to assess the relative importance and the strength of the relationships among different constructs, including users’ previous experience, their trust in e-Payment security and the perceived convenience of the Payment Process. Our results indicate that trust (both in a frictionless use of the system and in e-Payment security) can be seen as an important antecedent for the adoption of online Payments on the part of the users. From the government’s point of view, the potential for exerting influence seems to be somewhat limited: While national institutions in developed countries are usually perceived as trustworthy, users’ attitudes toward the Internet may be more skeptical, depending on their previous experience.
