    Abstract:

    As a popular application layer signaling protocol, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) has been adopted by telecom NGN, 3G IMS, and various Internet and enterprise applications. The Payment mechanism is an important enhancement for SIP services and can bring economic incentives to the service providers. This paper proposes SIPCoin, a new real-time Payment Scheme for SIP services based on hash chain. SIPCoin takes advantage of the efficiency and irreversibility of the hash chain. With a simple extension to the SIP protocol and a new Payment message flow designed in a standard way, SIPCoin integrates hash-chain-based micro-Payment mechanism with the SIP session establishment and management process to provide real-time Payment for SIP services. Compared with present Payment Schemes for SIP services, SIPCoin not only has higher efficiency, better real-time performance and extensibility, but also enhances the security by preventing electronic currency from forgery and thievery.

  • Security Enhancement of a Flexible Payment Scheme and Its Role-Based Access Control

    Abstract:

    Recently, Wang, Cao, and Zhang proposed a practical and anonymous Payment Scheme. In the Scheme, the authors claimed that their Scheme can identify those who spend a coin more than once. That means the Scheme can verify the Payments in an offline batch process and prevent a consumer from double spending. In this paper, we show that Wang, Cao, and Zhang’s Scheme can not identify consumers those who spend the same coin repeatedly in two or more different shops at the same time. So, all consumers can apply the security flaw to perform double spending successfully. In order to overcome this security flaw, we provide an improved version of the Scheme in this paper.

    Abstract:

    In this paper, we extend the Pay-Word micro-Payment Scheme using the 1-dimension one-way hash chain to generate an n-dimension one-way hash chain. According to the system requirements, a user can flexibly choose the number of dimensions to gain the best time/space trade off. The proposed Scheme is based on an n-dimension one-way hash chain, which can improve the efficiency of deriving the pay-words but also increase the temporary storage space. In addition, this Scheme is fit for real-time Payment.

    Abstract:

    The micro-Payment system is an important technique in electronic commerce. The high-value Payment system is not suitable for a micro-Payment system because the requirements are different. To meet sufficient security for all participants in electronic commerce, a micro-Payment system makes it possible to make small Payment through electronic communication networks. In this paper, we propose a simple and secure micro-Payment system which can be used for purchasing information goods on the network. The new micro-Payment system is developed using a tamper-resistant device (i.e., smart card), an efficient Message Authentication Code (MAC) technique, and the concept of overall network security. In our proposed Scheme, we achieve the authentication of the legal users, protection of the integrity of transaction messages, and prevention of duplicate spending. This new micro-Payment system is a simple, efficient and economical system.

  • A flexible Payment Scheme and its role-based access control

    Abstract:

    This work proposes a practical Payment protocol with scalable anonymity for Internet purchases, and analyzes its role-based access control (RBAC). The protocol uses electronic cash for Payment transactions. It is an offline Payment Scheme that can prevent a consumer from spending a coin more than once. Consumers can improve anonymity if they are worried about disclosure of their identities to banks. An agent provides high anonymity through the issue of a certification. The agent certifies reencrypted data after verifying the validity of the content from consumers, but with no private information of the consumers required. With this new method, each consumer can get the required anonymity level, depending on the available time, computation, and cost. We use RBAC to manage the new Payment Scheme and improve its integrity. With RBAC, each user may be assigned one or more roles, and each role can be assigned one or more privileges that are permitted to users in that role. To reduce conflicts of different roles and decrease complexities of administration, duty separation constraints, role hierarchies, and scenarios of end-users are analyzed.

    This paper proposes a secure, scalable anonymity and practical Payment protocol for Internet purchases, and uses role based access control (RBAC) to manage the new Payment Scheme. The protocol uses electronic cash for Payment transactions. In this new protocol, from the viewpoint of banks, consumers can improve anonymity if they are worried about disclosure of their identities. An agent provides a higher anonymous certificate and improves the security of the consumers. The agent will certify re-encrypted data after verifying the validity of the content from consumers, but with no private information of the consumers required. With this new method, each consumer can get the required anonymity level, depending on the available time, computation and cost. We also analyse how to prevent a consumer from spending a coin more than once. Furthermore, we use RBAC to manage the new Payment Scheme. Each user may be assigned one or more roles, and each role can be assigned one or more privileges that are permitted to users in that role. Security administration with RBAC consists of determining operations that must be executed by persons in particular jobs, and assigning employees to proper roles. RBAC can improve system security and reduce conflicts of different roles. The complexities with RBAC can be decreased by mutually exclusive roles and role hierarchies.
