    New data on the diversity and geographical distribution of lichenicolous Tremellales and Filobasidiales in the Nordic countries is presented. One new species, Tremella rhizocarpicola, is formally described.     The available collections of the lichen genus Pertusaria from the eastern parts of Central Africa (mainly in the Albertine Rift in Congo/Kivu. Burundi and Rwanda) and Western Kenya yielded 21 species. Four are described as new for science: Pertusaria fosseyae. P. kinigiensis. P. krogiae and P. lambinonii. The following species are new reports for Africa: P. commutata. P. maritima. P. melanostoma. P. mesotropa. P. microstoma. P. orarensis. P. pilosula. P. rigida. P. scaberula. P. subplanaica. P. subrigida. P. valliculata. and P. verruculifera. The following are reduced into synonymy: Pertusaria amboimensis with P. leioplacella. P. macrostomoides. P. prolifera and P. norstictica with P. endoxantha. P. kahuziensis with P. velata. and P. robsonii with P. limbata. P. aberdarensis is suspected to be a synonym of P. rigida. An identification key to all species is provided. The type collections of three further species described from Africa have been examined: P. kigomensis. P. regenerans and P. rhodesica

    The lichen collection from Bukit Larut, Taiping, Malaysia in 1999 included Bulbothrix isidiza, Chrysothrix xanthina, Cladonia adspersa, C. verticillata, Coccocarpia palmicola, Heterodermia flabellata, H. japonica, H. obscurata, Hypotrachyna imbricatula, Leptogium azureum, Parmelinella wallichiana, Parmotrema tinctorum, P. clavuliferum, P. reticulatum, Pertusaria sp., Physma byrsaeum, Usnea baileyi and Usnea rubrotincta. Secondary metabolites could not be detected in three lichens, Coccocarpia palmicola, Leptogium azureum and Physma byrsaeum by HPLC and TLC analysis. The other 15 lichen species showed the presence of ten classes of compounds, depsides (10 compounds), depsidones (16), quinones (5), xanthones (2), naphthopyrones (1), pulvinic acid derivatives (1), diphenylethers (1), dibenzofurans (1), aliphatic acids (4) and terpenoids (3)

    Abstract:

    This revision of Pertusaria in the Galapagos Islands documents twenty-four species, twenty-two being new to the archipelago. Secondary chemistry correlates well with morphology and anatomy and is particularly useful in distinguishing these taxa. Eight species are described as new to science, and seven are known only from the Galapagos: Pertusaria albineoides, P. cerroazulensis, P. darwiniana, P. medullamarilla, P. stictica, P. thioisidiata and P. xanthoisidiata. Pertusaria lueckingii is new, but it also occurs in Central America (El Salvador). Three new endemic varieties are described based on their chemistry: Pertusaria thioisidiata var. isidiogyrophorica, P. tejocotensis var. stictica and P. xantholeucoides var. thamnolica. In contrast with previous studies on other genera where rates of endemism of 8–10% were observed, in Pertusaria 30–37% of all species and 41–46% of all taxa are considered endemic
