To Explore the Disorders of Calcium and Phosphorus Metabolism in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

Method The serum calcium,serum phosphate,albumin and parathyroid hormone of 43 CAPD patients were detected.The adequacy of the CAPD patients was set a target minimum Urea kt/v of 1.7 and total weekly Ccr of 50L.Results The patients who had not residual renal function had significant elevated serum phosphate level and value of[ca2+]×[p3+](P0.05).The levels of serum calcium,serum phosphate and calcium-phophorus product were not remarkable difference in adequate and inadequate CAPD patients.Conclusion Disorder of calcium and Phosphorus Metabolism,especially higher serum phosphate and higher calcium-Phosphorus product is universal in CAPD Patients.The residual renal function plays an important role in the clearance of serum phosphate.

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy studies on experimental murine and human tumors: comparison of changes in Phosphorus Metabolism with induced changes in vascular volume.

WoodAbstract:Abstract The responses of two experimental murine tumors and two human tumor xenografts to the vasodilator hydralazine were compared using two magnetic resonance spectroscopy endpoints. Changes in tumor Metabolism were determined using 31 P MRS where inorganic phosphate levels relative to total phosphate (Pi/total) were measured, and alteration in tumor blood volume was examined using 19 F MRS with perfluorooctylbromide (PFOB) as tracer. The integrated 19 F signal from PFOB is dose dependent and stable for at least 2 hr after injection. The murine tumors SCCVH/Ha and KHT both showed changes in tumor Metabolism after hydralazine, as an increase in Pi/total. However, hydralazine reduced vascular volume in the KHT tumor, demonstrated by reduced 19 F signal from PFOB, but no such reduction was seen in the SCCVII/Ha tumor. In contrast, hydralazine had no effect on Phosphorus Metabolism in the HT29 and HX118 human tumor xenografts, but reduced vascular volume in both tumors. These results demonstrate that the effects of vasoactive agents such as hydralazine on tumor Phosphorus Metabolism are only partially consistent with changes in vascular volume, measured by the 19F MRS technique.

Effect of Vesicular-Arbuscular Mycorrhiza on Phosphorus Metabolism in agricultural plants

Phosphorus content in the VA-mycorrhizal corn root tissues increased by 35% for the species Glomus mosseae and by 98% for Glomus fasciculatum. Phosphorus was accumulated in the root tissues as low-molecular organoPhosphorus compounds of the acid-soluble fraction and high-molecular compounds of the acid-insoluble fraction (RNAs). Daily dynamics of Phosphorus transfer to the above ground parts of the mycorrhizal corn plants depended on the stage of plant vegetation: by the 60th day Phosphorus carry-over was predominantly as orthophosphates, whereas the 70-day-old corn plants showed a significant increase of the organoPhosphorus content in the daily root exudate. Phosphorus nutrition of corn plants has been shown to be an essential factor of biosynthetic processes in the plant. Root infection by VAM fungi has greatly improved the Phosphorus uptake, translocation and its subsequent transfer through the host plant.

Objective: To investigate the impacts of PTX on calcium and Phosphorus Metabolism, arterial calcification and arterial stiffness in haemodialysis patients with SHPT. Methods: Twenty-one SHPT-haemodialysis patients were selected for PTX. The preoperative and postoperative 1-year scores of coronary artery calcification were measured via multislice spiral CT, along with the brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), and preoperative and postoperative 1-year indexes such as calcium, Phosphorus, calcium-Phosphorus product concentration and parathyroid hormone (PTH) level were compared.
