    [s.n.], 2018
    Co-Authors: Tamashiro, Silvio Mauro
    Abstract:

In this work we studied Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RW A) algorithms on Wavelength Division Multiplexing Optical Networks, using discrete event simulation and analytical modeling. Fixed routing, alternate routing and adaptive routing algorithms were implemented. The effect of the number of wavelengths per optical fiber, number of optical fibers and use of wavelength conversion on the performance of the network was considered. The simulation software was written in C++ programming language, using object oriented methodology, in order to achieve efficiency and portability. The analytical modeling used a reduced load approximation with Poisson Probability Distribution call arrivals and exponential holding times. The analytical results were compared with the results from simulation, for fixed and alternate routingMestradoEngenharia de ComputaçãoMestre em Engenharia Elétric

  • some applications of the fractional Poisson Probability Distribution
    Journal of Mathematical Physics, 2009
    Co-Authors: Nick Laskin
    Abstract:

Physical and mathematical applications of the recently invented fractional Poisson Probability Distribution have been presented. As a physical application, a new family of quantum coherent states has been introduced and studied. As mathematical applications, we have developed the fractional generalization of Bell polynomials, Bell numbers, and Stirling numbers of the second kind. The appearance of fractional Bell polynomials is natural if one evaluates the diagonal matrix element of the evolution operator in the basis of newly introduced quantum coherent states. Fractional Stirling numbers of the second kind have been introduced and applied to evaluate the skewness and kurtosis of the fractional Poisson Probability Distribution function. A representation of the Bernoulli numbers in terms of fractional Stirling numbers of the second kind has been found. In the limit case when the fractional Poisson Probability Distribution becomes the Poisson Probability Distribution, all of the above listed developments and implementations turn into the well-known results of the quantum optics and the theory of combinatorial numbers.

A new representations of Mittag-Leffler function involving fractional Bell polynomials and fractional Stirling numbers of the second kind have been discovered. Fractional Stirling numbers of the first kind have been introduced and studied. Two new polynomial sequences associated with fractional Poisson Probability Distribution have been launched and explored. The relationship between new polynomials and the orthogonal Charlier polynomials has also been investigated. In the limit case when the fractional Poisson Probability Distribution becomes the Poisson Probability Distribution, all of the above listed developments and implementations turn into the well-known results of quantum optics, the theory of combinatorial numbers and the theory of orthogonal polynomials of discrete variable.

  • Hyper-Poisson dispersion model for observable and unobservable discrete variables
'Universidade de Sao Paulo Agencia USP de Gestao da Informacao Academica (AGUIA)', 2020
    Co-Authors: Santos, Daiane De Souza
    Abstract:

Poisson Distribution is widely used to model count data, however it has the disadvantage the assumption that the data must have equal mean and variance, which is not always true, since in many situations the phenomenon of overdispersion (variance greater than average) or underdispersion (variance lower than average) is common. Thus, we work with the hyper-Poisson Distribution, which may accomodate data with overdispersion or underdispersion. The hyper- Poisson model is investigated here in two distinct scenarios, first modeling observable random variables in counting problems, and secondly representing an unobservable (latent) variable used in survival analysis models. In the first scenario, we take a classic approach for the estimation of the parameters of the hyper-Poisson Distribution and we developed the usual likelihood ratio test, together with the gradient test to test the model dispersion parameter. In the survival analysis, we propose a new cure rate model induced by frailty discrete with hyper-Poisson Probability Distribution, since it is important to choose a Distribution that takes into account the dispersion of risk factors. For this new model we developed inferential procedures from the classical and bayesian perspectives. All the models worked were analyzed through simulation studies and applied to real data sets
