  • method for analyzing space distribution feature of ground rainfall runoff Pollution based on gis geographic information system technology
    2017
Co-Authors: Lyu Yongpeng, Mo Zulan, Xie Sheng, Zhang Chen, Chen Yan, Yin Guanlin
    Abstract:

The invention relates to a method for analyzing a space distribution feature of ground rainfall runoff Pollution based on a GIS (Geographic Information System) technology. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring space information data of a land area in a research area; performing sampling and analyzing; preprocessing detection data of rainfall runoff Pollution and establishing a database; building an optimal GIS model; and generating a space distribution map of rainfall runoff Pollution levels. In the method, the GIS technology is introduced into the analysis for the space distribution feature of the rainfall runoff Pollution, so that faults caused by a subjective method are reduced. Meanwhile, the space distribution feature of the rainfall runoff Pollution is simulated by the GIS technology, so that the problem of relatively low accuracy of a calculation result due to a conventional export coefficient method in which single assignment is mainly performed according to the type of land use is solved, and scientific guidance is provided for the effective making of a rainfall runoff Pollution Control strategy, the implementation of a Pollution Control Measure and the development of sponge city construction.

  • a source Pollution Control Measure based on spatial temporal distribution characteristic of the runoff pollutants at urban pavement sites
    Applied Sciences, 2018
Co-Authors: Aihong Kang, Peng Xiao, Peter Mikhailenko, Hassan Baaj, Zhengguang Wu
    Abstract:

The concentrations of pollutants in urban pavement runoff are normally higher than those in other urban surface runoff, which causes serious problems in protecting the environment of receiving water and soils. The purpose of this study was to propose a source Pollution Control Measure based on the spatial-temporal distribution characteristics of the runoff pollutants at urban pavement sites. Therefore, samples from pavement runoff were collected and tested for analyzing the spatial-temporal distribution characteristics. Then, infiltration tests were conducted on selected purification materials to evaluate their purification ability to the simulated pavement runoff. Results indicated that heavy metals Zn and Pb were at high concentrations near the intersection, the reason being the frequent braking of vehicles at this site. The level of suspended solids was far higher than the limitation in the standard near the site where massive human activities occurred. Besides, the cumulative amounts of all kinds of pollutants tended to be stable with the extension of rainfall duration. The logarithmic function was found to fit the experimental data well. Finally, the pavement runoff was categorized into different situations. The combinations of purification materials were recommended and integrated into a source Control Measure for the treatments of different Pollution situations, which made the most use of each purification material and ensured the high elimination efficiency of different pollutants.

  • Multi-Attribute Decision Theory methodology for Pollution Control Measure analysis
    1992
    Co-Authors: A.s. Barrera Roldan, A. Corona Juarez, R.w. Hardie, G.r. Thayer
    Abstract:

A methodology based in Multi-Attribute Decision Theory was developed to prioritize air Pollution Control Measures and strategies (a set of Measures) for Mexico City Metropolitan Area (MCMA). We have developed a framework that takes into account economic, technical feasibility, environmental, social, political, and institutional factors to evaluate Pollution mitigation Measures and strategies utilizing a decision analysis process. In a series of meetings with a panel of experts in air Pollution from different offices of the mexican government we have developed General and Specific criteria for a decision analysis tree. With these tools the Measures or strategies can be graded and a figure of merit can be assigned to each of them, so they can be ranked. Two Pollution mitigation Measures were analyzed to test the methodology, the results are presented. This methodology was developed specifically for Mexico City, though the experience gained in this work can be used to develop similar methodologies for other metropolitan areas throughout the world.
