Polypedilum (Cerobregma) heberti sp. n. (Diptera: Chironomidae) from Gaoligong Mountains, Yunnan, China.
Zootaxa, 2019Co-Authors: Xiaolong Lin, Ruilei Zhang, Xinhua WangAbstract:DNA barcodes and morphology recognize a new non-biting midge within the genus Polypedilum (Diptera: Chironomidae). Polypedilum (Cerobregma) heberti Lin et Wang sp. n. is described and illustrated based on an adult male from Gaoligong Mountains, Yunnan, China. Key to adult males of the subgenus Cerobregma is given.

Zootaxa, 2017Co-Authors: Chuncai Yan, Chao Song, Ting Liu, Guangjun Zhao, Ziyuan Hou, Wei Cao, Xinhua WangAbstract:Polypedilum ( Tripodura ) enshiense Song & Wang sp. n. and P . ( Tripodura ) jianfengense Song & Wang sp. n. are described and illustrated as male imagines from China. P . ( Uresipedilum ) paraconvictum Yamamoto, Yamamoto & Hirowatari, 2016 is recorded from China for the first time. Cytochrome coxidase subunit I (COI) sequence of above species are uploaded to Barcode of Life Data Systems (BOLD).

Pan-Pacific Entomologist, 2017Co-Authors: Ruilei Zhang, Li Ming Zhu, Wenbin Liu, Xinhua WangAbstract:Abstract. Two new species of Polypedilum (s. str.) Kieffer, 1912, from China with the anal point constricted apically, P. (s. str.) adustalum Zhang & Wang, sp. n., and P. Two gynandromorphic species of Polypedilum Kieffer, 1912 (Diptera: Chironomidae), with DNA barcodes from Oriental China
Pan-Pacific Entomologist, 2017Co-Authors: Chao Song, Ruilei Zhang, Wenbin Liu, Xinhua WangAbstract:Abstract. The first cases of gynandromorphy in the non-biting midge genus Polypedilum Kieffer, 1912 (Diptera: Chironomidae) are reported. Gynandromorphs of two species, P. (Tripodura) unifascium (Tokunaga, 1938) and P. (Uresipedilum) bingoparadoxum Kawai, Inoue & Imabayashi, 1998, from China are described and illustrated. They were determined through comparison of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 DNA barcodes with those of determined Polypedilum adult males. Occurrence of gynandromorphs, which have a feminine head, thorax and abdomen, but a masculine hypopygium, in the Chironomidae is discussed.
-
Two new species of the acifer species group of Polypedilum subgenus Tripodura Townes from China (Diptera: Chironomidae)
Zootaxa, 2015Co-Authors: Ruilei Zhang, Chao Song, Liqing Wang, Xinhua WangAbstract:Polypedilum ( Tripodura ) falcatum sp. n. and P. ( T. ) procerum sp. n. of the acifer species group of Polypedilum subgenus Tripodura Townes are described and illustrated as male imagines from China. The male adult of P . ( T .) falcatum sp. n. is distinguished by the presence of two faint markings on wing; short and interrupted abdominal tergite bands; the sickle-like superior volsella bearing 0–2 outer setae and a tuft of short setae on its apex. The male adult of P. ( T. ) procerum sp. n. differs in having short abdominal tergite bands; a long, slender and apically curved superior volsella; a high fore leg ratio (2.30–2.33). A key to known male imagines of Polypedilum subgenus Tripodura from China is presented.
