  • Factors Influencing Adoption of Islamic Banking in Morocco
    'Research Innovation Initiative', 2021
Co-Authors: Hafiane, Mohammed Amine, Allouch Faissal
    Abstract:

Purpose: The objective of this research is to explore the factors influencing the choice of Islamic banking services by Moroccan banking customers.  Methods: This study is based on an exploratory qualitative study conducted with a sample of forty active users of the banking services (having a bank account), but non-users of Islamic banking products, aged 25 to 60 in Morocco. Results: This research identified factors influencing the choice of Islamic banking services by the Moroccan banking customers, mainly the compatibility of the ethical and economic benefits provided by the Islamic banks with the needs of the Potential adoption, as well as the influence of the two variables, namely the perceived complexity and the risk perceived by the Potential Adopter of the services and products offered by participatory banks in Morocco. Implications: This study allows managers of participatory (Islamic) banks to understand Moroccan’s views as regards Islamic banking products. The major concern of Islamic banks is to increase the number of accounts and deposits of customers to face the challenge of the liquidity crisis. To this end, Islamic banks need to understand the factors that hinder or motivate the adoption of Islamic banking by consumers in Morocco so as to focus on these factors at the level of commercial communication

  • analysing the factors influencing clean technology adoption a study of the spanish pulp and paper industry
Business Strategy and The Environment, 2005
    Co-Authors: Pablo Del Rio Gonzalez
    Abstract:

Technological change has a relevant role to play in the transition towards a sustainable industry. However, slow diffusion of clean technologies can be observed in OECD countries. The analysis of the determinants and barriers to clean technology adoption should be a main goal of economists and social scientists. This paper shows that three sets of interrelated factors prevent but also stimulate the widespread adoption and diffusion of clean technology: these are factors external and internal to the firm, conditions of the Potential Adopters and characteristics of the environmental technology. These factors are included in the so-called ‘triangular model’, which is further applied to the analysis of clean technology adoption in the pulp and paper industry in Spain. The empirical study shows that clean technology adoption decisions are the result of an interaction between these factors, often involving contradictory signals for the Potential Adopter. The paper closes with some public policy recommendations for the effective and efficient promotion of clean technology diffusion. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd and ERP Environment.

  • a model of internet standards adoption the case of ipv6
    Information Systems Journal, 2004
Co-Authors: Anat Hovav, Ravi Patnayakuni, David Schuff
    Abstract:

.  The Internet presents a unique environment in which to study adoption. This is because of its composition of autonomous entities that are otherwise strongly interrelated. Our model of Internet standards adoption (ISA) combines diffusion of innovation and economics of adoption literature to present an integrative model. This model proposes that the adoption of Internet-based standards is dependent upon two dimensions: the usefulness of the features to the Potential Adopter, and the conduciveness of the environment to adoption of the standard. This model accounts for not only the traditional dichotomous view of adoption, but also includes the notion of ‘partial adoption’, where both old and new standards can coexist for extended periods of time. As a demonstration, we apply the ISA model to the next generation Internet protocol Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). Despite its ostensible superiority, IPv6 has not been widely adopted. In this paper we discuss the reasons why this might be the case. Our analysis also draws wider conclusions about the adoption of Internet standards: in particular, the importance of transitional technologies between the old and new standards and the need for co-ordinated government polices which encourage adoption. Our analysis also indicates that geopolitical boundaries may have a considerable impact on the adoption of Internet standards.
