TEPCO decided to construct 1000kV transmission lines in the middle of 1970s and completed the South-North 1000kV transmission line (190km) and the East-West 1000kV transmission line (240km) in 1999. These transmission lines are operating at 500kV now and it is predetermined to raise the voltage level of these transmission lines to 1000kV in the middle of 2010s. The UHV transmission technology used by TEPCO will be presented in six parts. Here, as the introduction to TEPCO’s UHV Power transmission technology, the design of UHV system, the construction of transmission lines and the field tests of substation equipments are concisely described.

The analysis results show the productivity improvements, and thus, help Taiwan Power Company to monitor and diagnose changes in the productivity of its thermal Power plants. Furthermore, this study also provides specific directions for improvements to increase competitiveness in the face of the continuing liberalization of the Taiwanese Power generation market.

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2001Co-Authors: Chenfu Chien, James T LinAbstract:In this study, data envelopment analysis (DEA) models were applied to evaluate the relative efficiencies of twenty-two electricity distribution districts of the Taiwan Power Company (TPC) in Taiwan, ROC. The empirical study showed that the TPC districts have good overall efficiency. We found that eleven districts were inefficient. Most of the inefficient districts suffer from scale inefficiency to a greater degree than technical inefficiency. We suggested the specific improvement directions for the corresponding inefficient districts. This study also investigated district reorganization to increase the efficiency. The proposed district reorganization alternatives have higher efficiency scores than the current one.

Journal of Power Sources, 1992Co-Authors: Kunio ShibataAbstract:Abstract The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has promoted the development of fuel cells for individual suppliers for installation in buildings having a large heat demand, and for dispersed Power sources in re-developed urban areas, utilizing advanced technology associated with phosphoric acid fuel cells. In demonstration testing of two 200 kW water-cooled plants for individual supply, the Power generation performance and operating characteristics as a co-generation system are being assessed. Furthermore, construction of an 11 MW fuel cell plant for regional supply was completed. This was followed by the PAC (process and control) test, which led to successfully achieving the plant's rated Power output. Although there are some obstacles to be overcome, the present demonstration tests clearly indicate the high potential of fuel cells for full-fledged commercial use. This paper presents an outline of these tests and the interim evaluation results.
