  • cost effectiveness analysis of hypertension guidelines in south africa absolute risk versus blood Pressure Level
    Circulation, 2005
Co-Authors: Thomas A Gaziano, Krisela Steyn, David J Cohen, Milton C Weinstein, Lionel H Opie
    Abstract:

Background— Hypertension is responsible for more deaths worldwide than any other cardiovascular risk factor. Guidelines based on blood Pressure Level for initiation of treatment of hypertension may be too costly compared with an approach based on absolute cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, especially in developing countries. Methods and Results— Using a Markov CVD model, we compared 6 strategies for initiation of drug treatment—2 different blood Pressure Levels (160/95 and 140/90 mm Hg) and 4 different Levels of absolute CVD risk over 10 years (40%, 30%, 20%, and 15%)—with one of no treatment. We modeled a hypothetical cohort of all adults without CVD in South Africa, a multiethnic developing country, over 10 years. The incremental cost-effectiveness ratios for treating those with 10-year absolute risk for CVD >40%, 30%, 20%, and 15% were $700, $1600, $4900, and $11 000 per quality-adjusted life-year gained, respectively. Strategies based on a target blood Pressure Level were both more expensive and less ...

  • Risk factors of high blood Pressure Level in children and adolescents
Chinese Journal of Public Health, 2010
    Co-Authors: Zhao Qi-hui
    Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the factors of high blood Pressure Level in children and adolescents and to provide evidence for hypertension prevention. Methods The subjects were selected from the children and adolescents aged 2-15 years in Suqian.High blood Pressure Level group and normal group were defined according to systolic blood Pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood Pressure(DBP).The investigation included a questionnaire survey and physical examination and information were collected on family history of hypertension, dietary habit, lifestyle, height, weight, glucose(Glu) and triglyceride(TG).Results Sex,residence, overweight, high birth weight, family history of hypertension, and Glu abnormality had statistical association with high blood Pressure Level(P0.05).Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that high blood Pressure Level had positive correlation with family history of hypertension and overweight. Conclusion The results suggest that overweight, family history of hypertension,Glu abnormality are significantly associated with high blood Pressure Level in children and adolescents.

  • Peak C‐weighted sound‐Pressure Level
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1999
    Co-Authors: Hiroaki Takinami
    Abstract:

Peak sound Pressure is the greatest absolute value of the instantaneous sound Pressure occurring within a stated time interval. Peak soundPressure Levels are measured without exponential time weighting and hence are fundamentally different from maximum sound Levels measured with time weighting F or S. Until the development of the new International Standard for soundLevel meters in IEC 61672, there was no internationally accepted specification for measurements of the peak Level of nonsteady or transient sounds. For short‐duration sounds, the value of the peak soundPressure Level depends on the frequency bandwidth of the measuring device; very short‐duration signals require a wide bandwidth of uniform frequency response. To permit reproducible measurements of various short‐duration sounds, IEC 61672 provides specifications for peak C‐weighted soundPressure Levels. Frequency‐weighting C has the most uniform response over the widest bandwidth of any internationally standarized frequency weighting. The spe...

Frequency‐weighting C has the most uniform response over the widest bandwidth of any internationally standarized frequency weighting. The specification requires that the peak C‐weighted Levels of a single cycle at 31,5 Hz, 500 Hz, and 8 kHz and positive and negative half cycles of 500‐Hz sinusoidal signals be measured within practical tolerance limits. Data will be shown to demonstrate conformance of instruments to the specification.

  • Relationship of velocity peak value and sound Pressure Level of rolling bearings
    Journal of Harbin Bearing, 2004
    Co-Authors: Xia Xintao
    Abstract:

Based on experimentation, the relationship of the vibration velocity peak value and the sound Pressure Level of 6203-2RZ rolling bearings is studied. The experiment data are comprehensively processed in the light of mathe- matical statistics.According to the results of data processing, the relationship of the vibration velocity peak value and the sound Pressure Level of rolling bearings is not obvious. If accounting the single of lows, intermediate and high fre- quency bands, the influence of the vibration velocity peak value on the sound Pressure Level has not statistical corre- lation in every frequency band. And if synthetical accounting these three frequency bands, the relationship of the vi- bration velocity peak value and the sound Pressure Level is of very big uncertainty. Therefore, indirect controlling the sound Pressure Level by means of controlling the vibration velocity peak value is not suitable. The noise of rolling bearings must be studied directly, the standards of the noise and its measurement as well as the corresponding tech- nology of rolling bearings must be established.

  • Sound-Pressure-Level Function of Rolling Bearing Noise Based on Harmonic Control Theory
    2002
    Co-Authors: Xia Xintao
    Abstract:

Based on harmonic and noise experiments the surface harmonic distribution models of rolling bearings are established, the influence of some harmonic distribution parameters on the sound Pressure Level of the rolling bearing noise is investigated, and the optimum harmonic-control-line equations of controlling the noise are drawn. According to the experiments of the bearing 6203, the forecasting errors of the optimum sound-Pressure-Level function of the rolling bearing noise are rather small in most cases, about 4dB. In view of the harmonic distribution parameters can be controlled in machinery manufacturing, controlling the noise of assembled bearings will change into the reality.
