Improvement of claim Processing Cycle Time through Lean Six Sigma methodology

Among various approaches, Lean Six Sigma became very popular as it provides the organisation the desired speed with quality. The purpose of this paper is to present a Lean Six Sigma case study for reducing Cycle Time in the claim settlement Process in insurance or financial services.Design/methodology/approach – This paper presents an application of Lean Six Sigma methodology for claim settlement Cycle Time reduction in the insurance sector.Findings – Lean Six Sigma is found to work very well in the insurance sector for reducing Process Cycle Time by carrying out Process changes. Mixing statistical and analytical techniques helps to improve the Process speed and is very well demonstrated by Lean Six Sigma approach for service organizations.Originality/value – This paper utilizes Lean and Six Sigma approaches in Process improvement and presents an application. Winter Simulation Conference - Identifying significant factors affecting request for information (RFI) Process Time

RussellAbstract:The research is to illustrate how to identify the significant factor(s) affecting the Request For Information (RFI) Process Cycle Time in the context of queueing behavior. Among three different factors involved in the general queueing model (i.e. variability factor, utilization factor, and average Process Time), the variability factor was selected and investigated to see how variations affect the Process Cycle Time under different conditions along with the batching effect. In order to determine the levels of factors, a set of RFI data was statistically analyzed. Based on the selected factors with levels determined, different scenarios were developed and simulation study was conducted so as to see how the system performs differently. Then, results of simulation were analyzed using the DOE in order to identify the most significant factor(s) which affects the current Process Cycle Time.

Automated industrial robot path planning for spray painting a Process: A review
4th IEEE Conference on Automation Science and Engineering CASE 2008, 2008Co-Authors: Heping Chen, Fuhlbrigge Thomas, Li XiongziAbstract:Industrial robots are widely used to paint final products in many industries, such as automotive and furniture etc. Robot path planning based on the CAD models of parts for spray painting is critical for product quality, Process Cycle Time and material waste etc. Currently automated robot path planning has always caused a bottleneck for the spray painting Processes because typical manual teaching methods are Time consuming, error-prone and skill dependent. Thus, it is essential to develop automated tool path planning methods to replace manual tool path planning ones in order to reduce the cost and improve product quality. This challenging research topic has been receiving more and more attention from both academia and industry. Therefore, a review of automated tool path planning methods is necessary to investigate the advantages and disadvantages of the current techniques.
