  • preschool teachers narratives a window on personal Professional History values and beliefs
International Journal of Early Years Education, 2009
Co-Authors: Deborah Court, Liat Merav, Etty Ornan
    Abstract:

This study investigated 10 Israeli preschool teachers’ reasons for choosing their profession and their perceptions of the teacher’s role. A narrative approach was chosen because teachers’ narratives can reveal their practical knowledge and the meanings they ascribe to their teaching. Data were subjected to content analysis and linguistic analysis. The content analysis revealed that choice of profession flowed from personal History and family background and reflected the needs, priorities and ambitions of each teacher. Most of the participants chose this profession at an early stage, in childhood or adolescence, and were influenced by close family members. • the state of public administration a Professional History 1970 1995
    Public Administration, 1995
Co-Authors: R A W Rhodes, Charlotte Dargie, Abigail Melville, Brian Tutt
    Abstract:

This article surveys developments in the profession of public administration in Britain in the 1980s. It explores: publications by analysing the contents of the leading journal; research grants through an analysis of ESRC awards; teaching through a resume of recent CNAA reports; and employment through a secondary analysis of the Political Studies Association's survey of the political science profession. Where possible, I compare the results with the findings of equivalent surveys in the US. These several surveys support five conclusions.
