Improved Radiated Test method for evaluating RF shielding gaskets and material
1993 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 1993Co-Authors: W.d. PeregrimAbstract:A Test method for measuring the radio-frequency shielding ability of materials and gaskets is discussed. This Test method is called the slot aperture Test (SAT). This method was developed to reduce the variability of results common to existing Test methods, improve the Test range, and reduce the required sample size.

Detect and avoid mechanism for ultra wide-band WiMedia: Experimental evaluation of detection capabilities
2011 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband (ICUWB), 2011Co-Authors: Andrey Somov, Sithamparanathan Kandeepan, Abdur Rahim Biswas, Amir KrauseAbstract:The Detect and Avoid (DAA) mechanism is a widely used technique in cognitive radios to support the coexistence of primary and secondary users operating in the same spectrum portion. In this paper we describe our experience in detecting WiMAX signal (operating as a primary user) in the 3.5 GHz range using the Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) Test dongles from Wisair (operating as a possible secondary user of the spectrum). For this purpose a generic Radiated Test bed was prepared and two scenarios were considered in order to experimentally study the detection capability of DAA block within the WISAIR UWB devices. The detection results are presented in terms of the received signal strength and the sensitivity of the device.

A new concept for Radiated Testing of airborne Doppler weather radar with forward looking windshear detection capability
Proceedings International Radar Conference, 1995Co-Authors: J.f. MichaelsAbstract:It has been demonstrated by NASA in flight Tests that an airborne Doppler radar can reliably detect and provide advanced warning of hazardous windshears, even in the presence of severe ground clutter. A full scan far field Radiated Test of an installed airborne Doppler radar has to date been extremely difficult to achieve if not impossible. The paper describes a Testing technique that allows Radiated Testing of an installed airborne radar while on the flightline without any interconnections. The performance of the airborne Doppler radar is discussed first, followed by the requirements of the flightline Tester necessary to verify this performance.

Pulsed Current Injection Setup and Procedure to Reproduce Intense Transient Electromagnetic Disturbances
IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2018Co-Authors: Zhitong Cui, Flavia Grassi, Sergio A. Pignari, Bing WeiAbstract:In this letter, a pulse current injection (PCI) setup involving a pulse generator with adjustable parameters is designed and modeled in SPICE. In order to allow causal and accurate time-domain simulation, the circuit model makes use of an augmented network to approximate the non-rational frequency response of the injection probe. The obtained SPICE model is preliminary validated by measurement for different sets of values of the pulse-generator parameters. Afterward, an explicative example of Radiated Test setup is considered. The stress waveform induced at the points of entry of the equipment under Test by radiation (evaluated either by theoretical prediction or by measurement in a low-level radiation environment) is taken as reference to prove the effectiveness of the proposed PCI-setup model in identifying the values of the generator parameters required to reproduce the same disturbance by PCI.
