    Abstract:

    Goteborg has used the river Gota alv as the drinking Water source since long ago. The reliability on this Water supply was a matter of concern even for the first inhabitants in the city, which realized the necessity of a constant source of Water of high quality. Nowadays, Gota alv still is providing Water to the city, but is nowadays supported by the incorporation of Delsjoarna as a Water reservoir for the city’s Waterworks: Alelyckan and Lackareback. Considering Water quality, it is known that Gota alv has in general a relatively good Water quality and, as this report confirmed, most of the parameters measured within the Water control program does not overstep the old national guidelines given by SLVFS 1993:35, known as “gamla kungorelsen”. However there are a few parameters overstepping these guidelines. These parameters are E. coli, where the guideline establishes a maximum of 500 total colonies in 100 ml; oxygen, where the guideline allows a minimum of 50%, and Aluminium (acid dissolved aluminium) with a maximum of 0.1 mg/L Al accepted. Water quality in the lakes is even better, since the pollutants, suspended sediments and microorganisms have time to settle (or die) during the reservoir Storage in the lakes. The capacity of the lake system Delsjoarna to diminishing the load of pollutants was evaluated using a Water budget concept. It was found that under the period considered this capacity was not constant and was decreasing at the end of the period. The correlations between the continuously registered Water quality parameters were evaluated by the Pearson’s correlation coefficient, thereby indicating different correlation patterns at the river (Larjeholm) compared to Lackareback Water treatment plant. Further studies may be helpful to broaden the understanding of the load capacity of the lakes of Delsjoarna and how this capacity is reflected by different parameters. These studies should focus on the mechanisms behind the reduction of pollutants in the lakes.

    Pumps used to transfer fluid (liquid) from a lower to a higher tempay or vice versa. Pump function is necessary to move this fluid pressure (head), which is to overcome the friction-friction and high distinction or difference in pressure. In this type of pump used to meet the needs of Raw Water pumps used Demster which is kind of centrifugal pump. Pumps are fitted with surface Water tributary called Pump Demster Cisadane. Demster pump run to suck Water from the river Cisadane, then Water flowing into the pipe until he came to where the Raw Water Storage reservoirs. But in the process of flowing in the pipe there is a loss in the pump pressure is often called the head loss. This type of flow in the pipe is a kind of turbulent, because the value of Reynolds number (RE) that got bigger than 4000 (RE > 4000).

    AbstractThe City of Atlanta plans to convert a recently acquired urban quarry into Bellwood Quarry Reservoir (BQR), an off-stream supplemental Water supply. CE-QUAL-W2, Version 3.5, was used to perform five-year Water quality simulations of the reservoir. Nine inflow/outflow design and operation scenarios were evaluated for thermal stratification, dissolved oxygen (DO), algae, and iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn). For a perpetual Storage scenario with no inflow and outflow and an operating scenario with monthly pump exercising flows, the model predicts ample reservoir DO to maintain an oxidizing environment in the hypolimnion and low dissolved Fe and Mn. A single portal near the bottom of the reservoir is recommended for alternating pump exercise inflows and outflows. Continuous flow-through operating scenarios do not improve predicted Water quality.
