    Abstract:

    Objective: To investigate and compare the stress of edentulous mucosa enduring different loads while wearing Separate Removable Partial Denture or Traditional Removable Partial Denture. Methods:A patient with Io mobile abutments of A5, A6, B5, B6 was chosen and spiral CT scanning was performed.. The 3-D model which was established with the software of Pro/Engineer was able to analyse with the software of ANSYS Workbench. Results:There were significant differences in stress value ranges between Separate Removable Partial Denture and Traditional Removable Partial Denture on the edentulous mucosa area while enduring the oblique or vertical loads. There was difference in stress distribution on the edentulous mucosa areas under horizontal loads. Those of Separate Removable Partial Denture were larger. The Von mises were similar under three kinds of loading with the two different Dentures. Conclusions:From the standpoint of dynamics, it is feasible for the patients who have I-II° mobile abutments and/or suffer from a bad periodontal condition to apply the restorations of Separate Removable Partial Denture.

This paper presents clinical applications of the SLRPD. Indications, contraindications, advantages and disadvantages are discussed.

    : The author's experience with the swinglock Removable Partial Denture concept is described. This infrequently utilized technique allows the use of undercuts that are unapproachable with other Partial Denture designs. Indications include missing or weakened key abutment teeth, tooth mobility, aesthetics, economic considerations, and the presence of certain ablative defects following oncologic surgery. The clinician must consider lip position, facial sulcus depth, position of frena, and the periodontal health of potential abutment teeth when considering a swinglock Removable Partial Denture. Specific instructions for blockout, relief, and position of hinge and clasp assemblies should be part of the written laboratory instructions.
