follicular cd4 t helper cells as a major hiv Reservoir Compartment a molecular perspective
Frontiers in Immunology, 2018Co-Authors: Frank P Dupuy, Eirini Moysi, Susan Moir, Elias K Haddad, Jacob D Estes, Rafick P Sekaly, Constantinos Petrovas, Susan Pereira RibeiroAbstract:Effective antiretroviral therapy (ART) has prevented the progression to AIDS and reduced HIV-related morbidities and mortality for the majority of infected individuals. However, a lifelong administration of ART is necessary, placing an inordinate burden on individuals and public health systems. Therefore, discovering therapeutic regimens able to eradicate or functionally cure HIV infection is of great importance. ART interruption leads to viral rebound highlighting the establishment and maintenance of a latent viral Reservoir Compartment even under long-term treatment. Follicular helper CD4 T cells (TFH) have been reported as a major cell Compartment contributing to viral persistence, consequent to their susceptibility to infection and ability to release replication competent new virions. Here, we discuss the molecular profiles and potential mechanisms that support the role of TFH cells as one of the major HIV Reservoirs.

Resistance Risk Management in HIV Therapy Switching with Explicit Quiescent
2020Co-Authors: Ryan ZurakowskiAbstract:Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) has proven remarkably eective in controlling the development of HIV. However, drug resistance may compromise these benefits. During the use of HAART, drug-resistant strains can develop and become the dominant species. Because the number of independent treatment regimens is limited, once resistance to all available drug classes arises, the patient will die. Drug resistance is therefore a critical problem for HIV treatment. In this paper, we explicitly model one known Reservoir Compartment, the quiescent infected CD4+ T cells, and explore the eects of this Reservoir on a drug-switching strategy designed to minimize the further development of drug-resistant virus.

3 d instantaneous frequency used as a coherency continuity parameter to interpret Reservoir Compartment boundaries across an area of complex turbidite deposition
Geophysics, 1998Co-Authors: Bob A Hardage, Virginia Pendleton, James L Simmons, Bruce A Stubbs, Bruce J UszynskiAbstract:In previous unpublished work, we found that anomalous values of instantaneous frequency (that is, frequency values that are negative or that have positive magnitudes greater than Nyquist limit) are valuable indicators of alterations in reflection waveshape that occur commonly at stratigraphic terminations. Inspection of 3-D seismic data across Nash Draw Field on the northwest slope of the Delaware Basin showed that appreciable wavelet alterations occurred at the boundaries of distinct seismic facies within the targeted Brushy Canyon Reservoirs that are being produced in this field. Based on this observation, we used instantaneous frequency as the fundamental database to define the edge positions and areal shapes of individual Reservoir facies within this complex, slope‐basin distribution of siltstones and sandstones, commonly thought to be a succession of turbidite depositions. We compared the Compartmentalization detail derived from this frequency‐based approach with Compartmentalization models provided ...
