    Industrial and Corporate Change, 2019
    Co-Authors: David J Teece
    Abstract:

Author(s): Teece, DJ | Abstract: © The Author(s) 2019. During an Industrial and Corporate Change conference at the University of California, Berkeley in December 2016, a roundtable discussion on "The Legacy of Nathan Rosenberg and the Importance of Economic History" was held on December 12th, 2016. The discussion was chaired by Professor David J. Teece and included Professors David C. Mowery whose introductory comments form the basis of the present Introduction to this Nathan Rosenberg Memorial Issue. It also included roundtable interventions by Professors Kenneth Arrow, Giovanni Dosi, Uve Granstrand, Richard R. Nelson, and Gavin Wright. • introduction nathan Rosenberg as a founding father of the economics of innovation
    Industrial and Corporate Change, 2019
Co-Authors: David C Mowery, Franco Malerba, Giovanni Dosi, David J Teece
    Abstract:

This ICC Special Issue commemorates the life and work of Professor Nathan Rosenberg. Nathan Rosenberg was one of the founders of the interdisciplinary field of study known as the “economics of innovation,” and this Issue contains a series of papers by leading scholars in the field that address some of the key themes of Rosenberg's work, as well as a roundtable on the role, contributions, and intellectual legacy of Nate Rosenberg.

  • the mukai pairing ii the hochschild kostant Rosenberg isomorphism
    Advances in Mathematics, 2005
    Co-Authors: Andrei Căldăraru
    Abstract:

Abstract We continue the study of the Hochschild structure of a smooth space that we began in our previous paper, examining implications of the Hochschild–Kostant–Rosenberg theorem. The main contributions of the present paper are: • we introduce a generalization of the usual notions of Mukai vector and Mukai pairing on differential forms that applies to arbitrary manifolds; • we give a proof of the fact that the natural Chern character map K 0 ( X ) → HH 0 ( X ) becomes, after the HKR isomorphism, the usual one K 0 ( X ) → ⊕ H i ( X , Ω X i ) ; and • we present a conjecture that relates the Hochschild and harmonic structures of a smooth space, similar in spirit to the Tsygan formality conjecture.

  • Factor Structure of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale:
    Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, 2012
Co-Authors: Andrew J. Supple, Scott W. Plunkett, Gary W. Peterson, Kevin R. Bush
    Abstract:

This study evaluated the factor structure of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) with a diverse sample of 1,248 European American, Latino, Armenian, and Iranian adolescents. Adolescents completed the 10-item RSES during school as part of a larger study on parental influences and academic outcomes. Findings suggested that method effects in the RSES are more strongly associated with negatively worded items across three diverse groups but also more pronounced among ethnic minority adolescents. Findings also suggested that accounting for method effects is necessary to avoid biased conclusions regarding cultural differences in self-esteem and how predictors are related to the RSES. Moreover, the two RSES factors (positive self-esteem and negative self-esteem) were differentially predicted by parenting behaviors and academic motivation. Substantive and methodological implications of these findings for cross-cultural research on adolescent self-esteem are discussed.

  • on a generalised connes hochschild kostant Rosenberg theorem
    Advances in Mathematics, 2006
    Co-Authors: Varghese Mathai, Danny Stevenson
    Abstract:

The central result of this paper is an explicit computation of the Hochschild and cyclic homologies of a natural smooth subalgebra of stable continuous trace algebras having smooth manifolds X as their spectrum. More precisely, the Hochschild homology is identified with the space of differential forms on X, and the periodic cyclic homology with the twisted de Rham cohomology of X, thereby generalising some fundamental results of Connes and Hochschild–Kostant–Rosenberg. The Connes–Chern character is also identified here with the twisted Chern character.
