In music stores, short trial listening of CD music is not usually a passive experience -- customers often Search out the chorus or "hook" of a song using the fast-forward button. Listening of this type, however, has not been traditionally supported. This reSearch achieves a Function for jumping to the chorus section and other key parts of a song plus a Function for visualizing song structure. These Functions make it easier for a listener to find desired parts of a song and thereby facilitate an active listening experience. The proposed Functions are achieved by an automatic chorus-section detecting method, and the results of implementing them as a listening station have demonstrated their usefulness.

A sequential quadratically constrained quadratic programming method with an augmented Lagrangian line Search Function
Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 2020Co-Authors: Chun-ming Tang, Jin-bao JianAbstract:AbstractBased on an augmented Lagrangian line Search Function, a sequential quadratically constrained quadratic programming method is proposed for solving nonlinearly constrained optimization problems. Compared to quadratic programming solved in the traditional SQP methods, a convex quadratically constrained quadratic programming is solved here to obtain a Search direction, and the Maratos effect does not occur without any other corrections. The “active set” strategy used in this subproblem can avoid recalculating the unnecessary gradients and (approximate) Hessian matrices of the constraints. Under certain assumptions, the proposed method is proved to be globally, superlinearly, and quadratically convergent. As an extension, general problems with inequality and equality constraints as well as nonmonotone line Search are also considered

Searchlight a lightweight Search Function for pervasive environments

Objects are tagged with optical markers which are scanned by a steerable camera and projector unit on the ceiling. The same projector can then highlight the objects when given the corresponding marker ID. The process is very robust regarding calibration, and no 3D model of the environment is needed. We discuss the scenario of finding books in a library or office environment and several extensions currently under development.

A Self-Adjusting Adaptive AVR-LFC Scheme for Synchronous Generators

It employs non-linear threshold accepting algorithm to find the best combinations of PID control gains using an innovative nonlinear Search Function. This approach outperformed well established heuristics and other conventional internal model control approaches in terms of the dynamic response, robustness in uncertain dynamical environments, and quality of the solutions.
