All seats $3.00. This year's tattoo honours the veterans of the 1939-45 war, & promises to be very colourful. Performances by the AIR COMMAND BAND of Winnipeg. The Band of THE KING'S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT, our own SPIRIT OF ALBERTA BAND, and the massed pipes & drums from the legions in Lethbridge, Calgary, & B.C. The first game we played Cardston, they won 5-4. Scorers were: Cole Barnett with a hat trick, Callan Gaff 1-0, Shaun Ragan 0-2, Casey Hillmer 0-1, Cole Schneyder 0-1, Todd Brandham 0-1 & Layne Gill 0-1, Cole Barnett received the Hustler Award. We played against Arby's from Lethbridge the next game. The score was 7-2 for Arby's. Goals & Assists were made by: Cole Barnett 1-1, Todd Brandham 1-1, and Cole Schneyder 0-1 and Shaun Ragan 0-1. Hustler Award was given to Callan Gaff. Then we played another Lethbridge team, with them winning 7-2. A Aft & Kenneth Richard (Dick) Matson - passed away Wednesday, February 1,1995 at Southland Nursing Home, at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his sisters: Mrs. Verda (William) Metcalfe and Miss Vilda Matson of Lethbridge and Esther Toomer of Magrath; one nephew, Roy Clouse and his family of California, U.S.A. and sister-in-law Mrs. Hertha Matson of Lethbridge. Dick was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Clara Matson; and two brothers; Robert and Clarence "Dutch” Matson. Dick worked on the family farm until August 1933 when he was stricken with polio. He has been confined to a wheelchair for sixty-one years and has spent the past fourteen years at Southland Nursing Home. He was liked by all and was known for his cheerfulness. He had a great love for flowers, sports and agriculture. Dick was president and spokesman for the Southland Resident Organization, a director on the Handi-Bus and while at the farm, secretary treasurer for the LaPrairie Telephone Company. He received a plaque and clock for his outstanding commitments as Presidents Council from 1982-1993 from Southland. Service was held on Monday, February 6, 1995 in Martin Bros.     Abstract:

    Historical and ongoing pedestrian anxiety about night crimes in alleyways is an important issue in our society. Therefore, recommended illuminance levels in pedestrian alleys have been established and Security Lighting meeting such illuminance levels has been installed to ensure proper brightness. However, pedestrians may still feel that such areas are too dark and want to ensure their safety through sufficient brightness, especially late at night. In this study, a smart Security Lighting system, which was namely the Connected Security Lighting System (CSLS), has been designed to reduce the pedestrians’ fear of crime in smart cities. The CSLS increases the brightness of Security Lighting by turning on additional lights to relax pedestrians’ psychological fear of crime because of the increased sense of surveillance. Such a change may also deter potential offenders. The CSLS employs various sensors and information communication technologies that are widely used in interior and outdoor smart Lighting applications. It also uses a beacon device and smartphone application to effectively detect pedestrians while infrared sensors in the CSLS are activated to detect any pedestrians approaching from the opposite direction after the beacon device is initiated. The method for controlling the CSLS is described and a prototype system is presented to demonstrate the feasibility of this Security Lighting system in smart cities.

    Nowadays, there is an access to unattended operation in the area of outdoor electric power stations. With this type of operation, it is necessary to keep an eye on the station's activities not only during the day, but especially at night. Since the operation of the entire Lighting system under normal conditions is highly inefficient and causes light pollution, there is a solution that in continuous night operation, the Lighting system only provides illumination around a fence. In cooperation with the Lighting system set up in this way, surveillance cameras should also be used to monitor the surroundings around the fence and provide information about potential disruption perimeter of the power station.

    At present time, in the operation of the outdoor electric power stations providers access their unattended operation. Linked to this there is necessary to know what is happening in the station not only during the day, but especially at night. Since the operation of the entire Lighting system in normal operation is highly uneconomical and generates light pollution too, the solution is that in permanent night operation is only Lighting system providing illumination around the fence for Security cameras and for visibility of the borders of power station from outside. Synergistically with this type of Lighting should be set up Security cameras system providing information about potential disruption perimeter of the power station. The article deals with the proper selection and mutual synergy of outdoor Lighting systems and Security cameras system. The issue is not only in the power stations, but generally in using of the cameras systems in industrial applications which are dependent on artificial Lighting. Main chapters of the article will solve following problems. At the beginning it is necessary to describe the need to choose the color of light of artificial Lighting system to spectral sensitivity of chips inside the cameras. It will continue with recommending for a design of artificial Lighting system with respect to the placement of cameras. It means the design which calculates not only with horizontal illuminance, but cameras (vertical) illuminance too. The camera illuminance is necessary for recording of images the whole distance between the luminaires. The whole policy of illumination for cameras must be re-evaluated compared to standard public Lighting systems design. In the last part of this article will be described relations between the horizontal illuminance, the camera illuminance, luminance and illuminance on the camera which are given by manufacturers.

The CSLS increases the brightness of Security Lighting by turning on additional lights to relax pedestrians’ psychological fear of crime because of the increased sense of surveillance. Such a change may also deter potential offenders. The CSLS employs various sensors and information communication technologies that are widely used in interior and outdoor smart Lighting applications. It also uses a beacon device and smartphone application to effectively detect pedestrians while infrared sensors in the CSLS are activated to detect any pedestrians approaching from the opposite direction after the beacon device is initiated. The method for controlling the CSLS is described and a prototype system is presented to demonstrate the feasibility of this Security Lighting system in smart cities.
