  • a sequential stochastic Security System Design problem for aviation Security
    Transportation Science, 2007
Co-Authors: Alexander Nikolaev, Sheldon H Jacobson, Laura A Mclay
    Abstract:

Passenger screening is a critical component of aviation Security Systems. This paper introduces the sequential stochastic Security Design problem (SSSDP), which models passenger and carry-on baggage-screening operations in an aviation Security System. SSSDP is formulated as a two-stage model, where in the first stage Security devices are purchased subject to budget and space constraints, and in the second stage a policy determines how passengers that arrive at a Security station are screened. Passengers are assumed to check in sequentially, with passenger risk levels determined by a prescreening System. The objective of SSSDP is to maximize the total Security of all passenger-screening decisions over a fixed time period, given passenger risk levels and Security device parameters. SSSDP is transformed into a deterministic integer program, and an optimal policy for screening passengers is obtained. Examples are provided to illustrate these results, using data extracted from the Official Airline Guide.

  • An Internet of Things-based health prescription assistant and its Security System Design
    Future Generation Computer Systems, 2018
Co-Authors: Mahmud Hossain, S. M.riazul Islam, Kyung Sup Kwak, Farman Ali, Ragib Hasan
    Abstract:

Today, telemedicine has a great reputation because of its capacity to provide quality healthcare services to remote locations. To achieve its purposes, telemedicine utilizes a number of wireless technologies as well as the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT is redefining the capacity of telemedicine in terms of improved and seamless healthcare services. In this regard, this paper contributes to the set of features of telemedicine by proposing a model for an IoT-based health prescription assistant (HPA), which helps each patient to follow the doctors recommendations properly. This paper also Designs a Security System that ensures user authentication and protected access to resources and services. The Security System authenticates a user based on the OpenID standard. An access control mechanism is implemented to prevent unauthorized access to medical devices. Once the authentication is successful, the user is issued an authorization ticket, which this paper calls a Security access token (SAT). The SAT contains a set of privileges that grants the user access to medical IoT devices and their services and/or resources. The SAT is cryptographically protected to guard against forgery. A medical IoT device verifies the SAT prior to serving a request, and thus, ensures protected access. A prototype of the proposed System has been implemented to experimentally analyze and compare the resource efficiency of different SAT verification approaches in terms of a number of performance metrics, including computation and communication overhead.

  • Home Security System based on PIC18F452 microcontroller
IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology, 2014
    Co-Authors: Md. Shafiul Islam
    Abstract:

We used PIC18F452 microcontroller for hardware and software implementation of our home Security System Design. Based on PIC18F452, our System can monitor doors and windows of a house and can set alarm and warning signal to a nearest police station if anybody tries to break in. This Security System also provides the functionality to identify the residents ID card to get access to the house without turning on the warning signal and alarm. Also, the Security System provides a status that is not monitoring the door and windows since there is some possibility that the host do not want the System always checks the status of their house.
