This paper proposes an ontology based Service Creation process framework to apply ontology really for software Service development. An ontology system that facilitates reuse in Service Creation process was designed, a four-phase Service Creation process was proposed, and a shipping case was carried out on our Service Creation tool to show the increasing Service reuse rate under the ontology based Service Creation process framework.

Widgets and composition mechanism for Service Creation by ordinary users
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2012Co-Authors: Nassim Laga, Emmanuel Bertin, Roch Glitho, Noel CrespiAbstract:Significant research work has been conducted in software engineering to facilitate and speed up the process of Service Creation by experienced developers. Recently, however, Service Creation by ordinary users has attracted more and more attention as non-technical people have begun to play an active role in Service life cycles, especially in a Web 2.0 context. In addition, Service Creation by ordinary users tackles the heterogeneity, the dynamicity, and the spontaneous nature of users needs. We show that current technologies are mainly inspired by previous approaches and architectures conceived for experienced developers, which means that they are not really adequate for Service Creation by ordinary users. This article proposes a novel Service Creation environment for ordinary users. It is made up of a new Widget abstraction layer that exposes the graphical user interface of Services as reusable components, and relies on a two-step mechanism to compose these Services at runtime. A proof of concept prototype has been built. The new abstraction layer offers interfaces that are much more user friendly than the current Service Creation tools. It also enables the different capabilities of a Service to be seamlessly handled throughout its usage lifecycle.

In traditional Service Creation Environment, a full lifecycle of requirements analyzing, design, development, testing and deployment always has to be undergone. Such way of Services Creation always results in poor reuse of software assets and involves mass resources. Some technologies have been developed to speed up steps in this lifecycle, such as BPEL or SCXML. These orchestration techniques and tools are already used to reduce cost in design and development stages but the Creation procedure still rely on attendance of IT specialists. This paper presents a way to shorten and simplify the whole Service Creation lifecycle and to reach the reduction target by building a template based Service Creation Environment. A model is used to separate Service work flow definition and Service parameters configuration and to achieve rapid development for different roles. A prototype of template based Service Creation environment is also introduced in this paper.

The advantage of our approach comes from web based Service Creation and execution environment to satisfy end-user's requirements and encourage user's participation. Using our SCE, end- users can create their own Service applications and use them anytime and anywhere through their personal devices.

New requirements should be considered for IT domain developers to create telecom and Internet combined Services more easily. This paper describes an integrated Service Creation environment (SCE) to reflect the trend of network evolution toward an open network environment. The SCE provides multiple Service programming tools to support various users’ background, a mash-up toolkit for IT domain, a simulation-based validation tool, a run-time adaptation tool, and a personalized Service provisioning environment. Several example Services were implemented to verify the features of an integrated SCE. Our approach is very promising because it supports various requirements and background of Service developers on the full Service Creation process. Furthermore, it provides a means for personalized Service Creation driven by end-user, which is a new trend of future network.
