Journal of Anhui Agricultural Sciences, 2006Co-Authors: Song GuiyunAbstract:The typical super rice-Shennong 265 and main cultivated rice-Liaojing 294 were used as experimental material to compare the influence of nitrogen fertilizer on tiller,plant height,matter production and distribution.The result showed: two rice varieties reached peak of tiller on July 27 under different nitrogen condition.Tiller number of Shennong 265 was less than that of Liaojing 294.Influence of nitrogen fertilizer on plant height was great.The spike stem of Shennong 265 was clearly longer than that of Liaojing 294,and the stem basis of the former was obvious shorter than that of the latter.The export of dry matter of leaf shelf was greater than that of the leaf.

Jiangsu Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2010Co-Authors: Zhang Zhenyu, Zhao Minghui, Xu Zhengjin, Zhang Wenzhong, Han Yadong, Chen WenfuAbstract:To explore the optimal field arrangement patterns and population characteristics of northern japonica super rice.Shennong 265,a famous northern japonica super rice variety,was used as material,sowed in six different row-hill space combinations and two different row directions(south-north and east-west) under order and disorder field arrangement patterns.The wide-narrow row sparse planting(40.0 cm + 26.6 cm) × 13.3 cm with east-west row direction was the best planting pattern for japonica super rice Shennong 265.The reasons of high yielding under this field arrangement pattern were high effective tiller percentage,optimum leaf area index,more illumination intensity and more mass production and accumulation.The panicle number per unit area,total number of grains per unit area(including total number of spikelets and total number of filled grains),number of grains per panicle(including total number of grains and number of filled grains) and grain weight(1 000-grain weight) were improved Shennong 265,under this field planting pattern,had the biggest harvest index and optimum yield components among the six field arrangement patterns,whose yield advantage was obvious.

Hubei Agricultural Sciences, 2009Co-Authors: Chen WenfuAbstract:The optimal field configuration of the northern Japonica type super rice Shennong 265 was studied through five different row and hill space combinations. The results indicated that wide and narrow row sparse planting (40.0+26.6)cm× 13.3cm was the best planting pattern for Japonica type super rice Shennong 265, which was beneficial to the tillering growth and had the high numbers of spikelet,filled grains and spike rate, grain-leaf ratio, stable and suitable LAI, coordinated sink-source relation, harvest index, transfer ratio of assimilate, contribution rate and population quality. In addition, spike rate was very significantly correlated with grain-leaf ratio, so the essential characteristic of high yield population was the coordination of high spike rate and high grain-leaf ratio.

Hubei Agricultural Sciences, 2009Co-Authors: Chen WenfuAbstract:Relationship between diurnal changes of net photosynthetic rate and affecting factors in flag leaves of rice under different nitrogen form and concentration conditions was studied at the full heading stage of super rice Shennong 265.Net photosynthetic rate showed no significant differences between 9∶00 ~13∶00 under different nitrogen treatments,whereas there were significant differences between 6∶00~9∶00 and between 14∶00~18∶00.The net photosynthetic rate showed a single peak curve in a day under ammonium sulfate-sodium nitrate mixed fertilizer treatments,but the midday depression of net photosyn-thetic rate appeared under other nitrogen fertilizer treatments.Diurnal changes of net photosynthetic rate increased significantly under high nitrogen fertilizer conditions.There were some differences in correlation character or correlation degree between net photosynthetic rate and all affecting factors under different nitrogen treatments.Stomatal factors served as determinants for diurnal changes of net photosynthetic rate.

Journal of Huazhong Agricultural University, 2007Co-Authors: Chen WenfuAbstract:Root morphological and physiological characteristics of japonica super rice Shennong 265 were studied.Using Akihikari as control,root morphological and physiological characteristics were studied at different growth stages with japonica super rice Shennong 265 under pot-culture conditions.Shennong 265 was behaved significantly in root number,root volume,root total length,root weight,root oxidizing ability per plant,sap bleeding,total absorption area and active absorption area.According to the trends of root growth,the differences of the two varieties appear in metaphase and anaphase.Root of Shennong 265 was more enormous and active than that of Akihikari.

Journal of Huazhong Agricultural University, 2008Co-Authors: Zhao MinghuiAbstract:The characteristics of growth and development and yield formation of super rice Shennong 265 were studied by using Liaojing 294 and Laojing 371 as check varieties.The results revealed that the yield of Shennong 265 was 10.20 t/hm2,11.72% and 17.38% higher than that of Liaojing 294 and Liaojing 371,respectively.The reasons for the high yield of Shennong 265 were a little less effective panicle number and 1000-grain weight,but larger spikelet number per panicles and higher grain filling percentage,the spikelet number per panicles of super rice Shennong 265 was 162,which was 29.54% and 20.28% higher than that of Liaojing 294 and Liaojing 371,respectively,and its grain filling percentage (over 96%) was 2.55% and 7.47% higher than that of Liaojing 294 and Liaojing 371,respectively.Its percentage of productive panicle was higher than 80% and no significant difference was showed between Shengnnong 265 and check varieties.Additionally,Shennong 265 exhibited fewer tillers and lower Leaf area index(the largest LAI was 6.81),but slowly decrease of high-effective leaf area which led to higher dry matter accumulation during grain filling period,in spite of lower dry matter accumulation before heading.The filling process of superior and inferior grains of Shennong 265 was obviously asynchronous.Although the inferior grains filling phase was late,it had longer grain filling period and higher grain plumpness.Shennong 265 had more large and small vascular bundules and much bigger area of total phloem of small vascular bundle and ratio of phloem to vascular bundle in neck-panicle than check varieties,which indicated that Shennong 265 had efficient transporting system of photosynthetic products.
