a metakaolin based Slurry Additive for marine concrete preparation and properties evaluation
Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2020Co-Authors: Yu Sun, Zhonghe Shui, Xu Gao, Li Zheng, Diao Qian, Jie HuangAbstract:This article investigates the rheology, working performance, volume stability, carbonation resistance, and microstructure of marine concrete incorporated with metakaolin-based Slurry Additive. The effects of metakaolin-based Slurry Additive on the properties of concrete are studied. The results show that metakaolin-based Slurry Additive presents higher flowability than powdered Additive. The Slurry Additive helps to improve the volume stability and resistance to carbonation and reduce the porosity of marine concrete. Compared to the powder Additive, Slurry Additive presents better modification regarding the durability issues. Also, the interface transition zone (ITZ) of marine concrete with metakaolin-based Slurry Additive is more homogeneous than that of the powdered one.
