  • Soft switching techniques to improve the performances of standard DC-DC converter modules
    1998
    Co-Authors: M. Fabrega, L. Garraud
    Abstract:

In the Spacecraft Power Supplies field, driven by the increasing integration of the equipments (ASIC's...), the hard trend is to reduce mass and volume of these functions. These requirements lead so to use, more and more, integrated standard DC-DC converters modules to built the Power cell of the new Power Supplies. This paper summarizes the main results of the work performed in the frame of a CNES R/D contract concerning a 50 W module for new payload applications. It presents the significant technical improvements with soft switching techniques allowing to increase the switching frequency with keeping good efficiency and technological improvements with high integration. A DC-DC converters module (± 3.3 V, ± 12 V ; 50 W) preliminary definition and main performances with such innovative solutions are presented.

  • Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology - Thermoelectric Energy Conversion
Kirk‐Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 2000
    Co-Authors: E. A. Skrabek
    Abstract:

Thermoelectric energy conversion is the science of the interchange of thermal and electrical energy in simple solid-state devices, generally heavily doped semiconductors. Thermoelectric devices can be used to generate electrical Power, to refrigerate, or to transfer large amounts of heat without the use of freons or compressors or any rotating machinery. As well as providing the historical background and summaries on materials and technology, this article discusses such topics as thermoelectric effects, Power generation, and cooling. It also provides summary descriptions of a number of applications of thermoelectric Power Supplies and coolers. These include Spacecraft Power Supplies, remote location Power systems on earth and newer commercial devices which could benefit the environment. Keywords: History; Thermoelectric energy conversion; Thermoelectric effects; Power generation; Thermoelectric cooling; Generators; Space launch

  • Research on Health Condition Assessment Method for Spacecraft Power Control System Based on SVM and Cloud Model
2019 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Paris), 2019
Co-Authors: Yi Xiong, Zhongdong Jiang, Hongzheng Fang, Fan Huanzhen
    Abstract:

Health condition assessment method can effectively ensure the performance and health status of the key components and equipment of the Spacecraft Power supply system, enhance the efficiency of Spacecraft in orbit. Aiming at the problems of health level classification and uncertainty mapping in the health assessment application of Spacecraft Power control system, the algorithm strategy of combining support vector machine (SVM) and cloud model is proposed to realize the health status measurement of Spacecraft Power control system. Then the implementation strategy and main processes of the algorithm are described. Finally, using the historical in-orbit operation data of a Spacecraft Power control system, the health status evaluation of the Spacecraft Power system based on SVM and cloud model is realized, and the effectiveness of the method is verified. The results show that the method can effectively evaluate the performance and health of the key equipment of the Spacecraft Power system. It can be used as a support for online health assessment and operational decision making of key components for Spacecraft Power Supplies.
