Science Education, 2012Co-Authors: Irene Arriassecq, Ileana Maria GrecaAbstract:This paper discusses some topics that stem from recent contributions made by the History, the Philosophy, and the Didactics of Science. We consider these topics relevant to the introduction of the Special Relativity Theory (SRT) in high school within a contextualized approach. We offer an outline of a teaching–learning sequence dealing with the SRT within this frame of reference. Such a sequence was tried out on a group of high school students in Argentina. The results obtained seem to indicate that the proposal has been effective as regards the motivational aspects and the understanding students gained of some of its concepts.

The results show that none of the analyzed texts would allow a contextualized approach on such Theory.

Physical Review D, 2005Co-Authors: Franz HinterleitnerAbstract:For a certain example of a 'doubly Special Relativity Theory' the modified space-time Lorentz transformations are obtained from the momentum space transformations by using canonical methods. In the sequel an energy-momentum dependent space-time metric is constructed, which is essentially invariant under the modified Lorentz transformations. By associating such a metric to every Planck cell in space and to the energy-momentum contained in it, a solution of the problem of macroscopic bodies in doubly Special Relativity is suggested.

Physics Letters B, 2004Co-Authors: A A DeriglazovAbstract:Abstract We propose version of doubly Special Relativity Theory starting from position space. The version is based on deformation of ordinary Lorentz transformations due to the Special conformal transformation. There is unique deformation which does not modify rotations. In contrast to the Fock–Lorentz realization (as well as to recent position-space proposals), maximum signal velocity is position (and observer) independent scale in our formulation by construction. The formulation admits one more invariant scale identified with radius of three-dimensional space-like hypersection of space–time. We present the Lagrangian action for geodesic motion of a particle on the DSR space. The corresponding dynamics and kinematics are discussed in some details. In particular, we demonstrate that there is no of the problem of total momentum in the Theory.

NOMAD has already searched for similar topologies. These results can be reinterpreted to provide stringent limits on Special-Relativity-violating parameters separately for each ? species.
