  • high spin states and level structure in Stable Nucleus strontium 84
    Scientific Reports, 2013
Co-Authors: Shuifa Shen, Xuzhong Kang, Guangbing Han, Shuxian Wen, Yupeng Yan, Zhijun Bai, Lihua Zhu
    Abstract:

High-spin states of 84Sr are populated through the reaction 70Zn (18O, 4n) 84Sr at the beam energy of 75 MeV. The measurements of excitation functions, γ-γ coincidences, directional correlations of oriented states (DCO) ratios and γ-transition intensities are performed using eight anticompton HPGe detectors and one planar HPGe detector. Based on the experimental results, we establish a new level scheme of 84Sr, in which 12 new states and nearly 30 new γ-transitions are identified in the present work. The positive-parity yrast band is extended to spin Iπ = 24+, while one negative-parity band is extended to spin Iπ = 19− and it is found that the even-spin and odd-spin members in high-spin states show the nature of signature staggering. The deformation of 84Sr is studied by calculating the total-Routhian-surfaces (TRS) of positive-parity yrast states in the cranked shell model formalism.

    Abstract:

High-spin states of 84Sr were populated through the reaction 70Zn(18O, 4n)84Sr at 75 MeV beam energy. Measurement of excitation function, gamma-gamma coincidences, directional correlation of oriented states (DCO) ratios and gamma-transition intensities were performed using eight anticompton HPGe detectors and one planar HPGe detector. Based on the measured results, a new level scheme of 84Sr was established in which 12 new states and nearly 30 new gamma-transitions were identified in the present work. The positive-parity states of the new level scheme were compared with results from calculations in the framework of the projected shell model (PSM). One negative-parity band was extended to spin I=19 and it can be found that in the high-spin states the gamma-transition energies show the nature of signature staggering. The negative-parity band levels are in good agreement with the deformed configuration-mixing shell model (DCM) calculations.

  • study of the high spin states in Stable Nucleus 84sr
    Chinese Science Bulletin, 2010
    Co-Authors: Xuzhong Kang, Shuifa Shen
    Abstract:

30 new γ-transitions were identified. The positive-parity states of the energy-level scheme were calculated in the framework of the projected shell model. The calculation results roughly agree with the experimental data. Owing to the use of the simple Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer vacuum, which only has the properties of the ground-state rotational band and not those of collective vibrations, the calculated levels are higher than the experimental values. The negative-parity states were extended to an energy of 10487 keV (I π =19 – ). The states exhibited a very good collective vibration-like nature when the spins and parities of states are above 11 – . In addition, we found that above the 14 – state, the γ-transition energies show signature staggering. The negative-parity band levels are in good agreement with deformed configuration-mixing shell model calculations. One journal reviewer said: “This is a systematic work in which new levels and γ-transitions were obtained through a nuclear structure experiment. The positive-parity bands were calculated using the projected shell model and compared with experimental data. The properties of 84 Sr were discussed. This paper is valuable to nuclear structure research.”

  • charge radius of the short lived 68 ni and correlation with the dipole polarizability
    Physical Review Letters, 2020
Co-Authors: S Kaufmann, Ml Bissell, J Simonis, Sonia Bacca, J Billowes, Klaus Blaum, B Cheal, R Garcia F Ruiz, W Gins, C Gorges
    Abstract:

We present the first laser spectroscopic measurement of the neutron-rich Nucleus ^{68}Ni at the N=40 subshell closure and extract its nuclear charge radius. Since this is the only short-lived isotope for which the dipole polarizability α_{D} has been measured, the combination of these observables provides a benchmark for nuclear structure theory. We compare them to novel coupled-cluster calculations based on different chiral two- and three-nucleon interactions, for which a strong correlation between the charge radius and dipole polarizability is observed, similar to the Stable Nucleus ^{48}Ca. Three-particle-three-hole correlations in coupled-cluster theory substantially improve the description of the experimental data, which allows to constrain the neutron radius and neutron skin of ^{68}Ni.

  • new isomeric states in the Stable Nucleus 185 re
    European Physical Journal A, 1997
    Co-Authors: T Shizuma, G Sletten, R A Bark, N L Gjorup, H J Jensen, S Mitarai, M Piiparinen, J Wrzesinski
    Abstract:

High-spin states in 185Re have been studied using the 176Yb(13C,p3n) reaction at 65 MeV. Levels up to spin (37/2) h at Ex = 4.799 MeV have been identified. Among them two levels were observed with half-lives of 6 ± 2 ns and 123 ± 23 ns.
