The Storage of Cereals probably initiated the transition by mankind from hunter-gatherer to cultivator, at the same time providing a vast new ecological niche for fungi pathogenic on grain crops or saprophytic on harvested grain, many of which produced mycotoxins. Grains have always been the major source of mycotoxins in the diet of man and his domestic animals. In the historical context, ergotism from Claviceps purpurea in rye has been known probably for more than 2000 years and caused the deaths of many thousands of people in Europe in the last millennium. Known in Japan since the 17th century, acute cardiac beriberi associated with the consumption of moldy rice was found to be due to citreoviridin produced by Penicillium citreonigrum. In this case, the interpretations of the estimates of the regression model parameters are not adequate. It is suggested to perform multicollinearity diagnostics as one of the steps of the regression analysis. In the case of correlation of factors, it is proposed to construct a regression model by regularizing the LASSO parameters. In this paper a regression model is built, that describes the effect on the quality indicators of wheat grain (gluten) of Storage parameters in the granary during cooling (“Average grain temperature in the granary, ºC”, “Humidity of the grain, %”, “Air temperature in the granary, ºC”, “Refrigerant temperature, ºC” and “Volume air flow, m3·h-1”). The parameters of the constructed model are analyzed. The conditions for the long-term Storage of Cereals are the synthesis of active ventilation by the convective stream of the coolant, turning of loose mass. The developed diagrams of granaries give an opportunity to realize the complex technological processing of products at the expense of efficient distribution of the cooled air flow passing through the raw materials, regulating its gas composition in intergranular spaces, humidity, temperature and intensity of physiological and microbiological processes in these layers

Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2000Co-Authors: Ernst Petzinger, K ZieglerAbstract:Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a widespread mycotoxin which is produced mainly by the mould fungi Aspergillus ochraceus and Penicillum verrucosum during the Storage of Cereals, cereal products and other plant-derived products such as herbs, spices, grapes, etc. By carry over from mouldy fodder, ochratoxin A is also found in pork meat, offal and sausages containing pork blood. When ingested as a food contaminant, OTA is very persistent in human beings with a blood half-life of 35 days after a single oral dosage due to unfavourable elimination toxicokinetics. This renders the toxin among the most frequent mycotoxin contaminants in human blood in the EU, the US, Canada, and elsewhere, where it has been investigated. OTA is neither stored nor deposited in the body, but heterogeneous body distribution may impose serious damage to the kidneys. The toxin was classified a 2B cancer compound, being possibly carcinogenic for humans. It was among the strongest carcinogenic compounds in rats and mice. As the toxicological profile also includes teratogenesis, nephrotoxicity, and immunotoxicity, legislation authorities are currently discussing maximal residue levels (MRL) for OTA in various foodstuffs. In the present article arguments are presented which suggest an acceptable daily intake (ADI) of 1.5 ng OTA/kg body weight and a much lower MRL than 5 microgram OTA/kg Cereals and cereal products as has been postulated by the EU commission.

At the level of Romania, the Storage and Storage of Cereals at small agricultural producers are deficient in terms of ensuring optimal Storage conditions according to standards. These variants include: preservation at low temperatures; preservation by active aeration; self-preservation; chemical preservation; conservation with the help of radiation. In the paper we will approach the conservation by active aeration because it folds better for small agricultural producers. Proper aeration is one of the most important processes in a grain Storage system and is essential for maintaining the quality of stored products. Aeration means the movement of a relatively small volume of air through the grain mass in order to control the temperature of the grain and to reduce the risk of product degradation. The two main objectives of aeration are to maintain a uniform temperature in the grain mass and at the same time the temperature must be as low as possible from a practical point of view. The paper will present the results of experiments for storing bulk grain in a metal cell with central aeration system, which is based on a patent. This type of Storage system can be used successfully in small agricultural producers
