The first is that all models of instructor performance are underdetermined by the Student Evaluation of teaching data. The second is the obverse of the first — that the exclusive use of the Student Evaluation of teaching data in the determination of instructor performance is tantamount to the promotion and practice of pseudoscience, two activities anathema to the academic mission.

This investigation adopts a qualitative and collaborative design, as suggested when the research objective is to study phenomena in their natural settings in terms of the meanings people bring to them and when the data collected cannot be statistically handled easily. To this end, an instructional method based on PBL principles and activities was implemented in an administration theory course during one semester. The data utilized in this paper derive from participant observation and an end-of-term questionnaire in which the Students were asked to evaluate the instructional method, its advantages and disadvantages, comment on some of its features, and give improvement suggestions. 2001Co-Authors: Martin Coffey, Graham GibbsAbstract:The Student Evaluation of Educational Quality Questionnaire (SEEQ) is one of the most thoroughly developed and widely used Student feedback questionnaires in the USA with a robust factor structure, excellent reliability and reasonable validity. Student feedback questionnaires used in the UK rarely have these desirable characteristics. This paper reports on the use of the SEEQ with 1297 Students in nine institutions in the UK. Factor analysis largely confirms the factor structure. The SEEQ is recommended for use in the UK where reliability and comparability are important.

2007Co-Authors: I Plaza, Carlos MedranoAbstract:In this paper, the authors show an educational method based on a specific application of the quality philosophy in the development of digital electronics laboratory courses during two academic years. The authors present two main goals: to provide Students with a methodology to manage problems and to start a process of continuous improvement. The level of achievement and the Student Evaluation show that the objectives have been fulfilled. Furthermore, the interdisciplinary character of this method allows for its application in other subjects.
